Whoopi Goldberg made a pretty hilarious NSFW confession live on TV, prompting one of her co-stars to walk off.

The 69-year-old boasts a decade-spanning career starring in a number of box-office smash-hits including Ghost, Sister Act and The Color Purple just to name a few.

Goldberg has also received a number of prestigious accolades including an Emmy Award, Grammy Award, Academy Award, and Tony Award - with the quartet being known as the EGOT.

She's also been a host of the American chat show The View since 2007 alongside the likes of comedian Joy Behar, lawyer Sunny Hostin, television host Sara Haines, television personality Ana Navarro, and political strategist Alyssa Farah Griffin.

In a segment during yesterday's episode (13 November), Goldberg - who was also celebrating her 69th birthday - listed some of her favourite Italian and travel-inspired items alongside Haines, including a giant wheel of cheese imprinted with her face. Take a look:

"I always wanted my face on cheese," Haines quipped as they approached it to which Goldberg replied with an expertly deadpan expression: "I like to be eaten from time to time."

The audience erupted into a chorus of laughter at the comedian's quip, Haines walked off camera as a joke only to return mere moments later to hug Goldberg who resolved: "Never mind."

Continuing to talk about the Parmigiano Reggiano, Goldberg chuckled: "This is a wheel of authentic Parmigiano Reggiano from Italy, and this has been aged for 24 months and it’s a testament to Italian tradition and quality."

Carrying on with the gag, Haines appeared to get the last laugh when Goldberg tried to close out the segment.

"If you’d like a chance to win a wheel just like this one," Goldberg began, before Haines exclaimed: "And eat Whoopi Goldberg!"

Playing along with the joke, Goldberg exclaimed: "That’s right! No - and eat yourself!"

The actor even suggested that the live audience members could make their own custom wheels of cheese by adding their faces to it.

Viewers at home have since shared their reactions to the segment, with one Instagram user writing: "That was hilarious!"

Another agreed: "It was a hilarious comment I saw and everyone lol!!! Sara couldn’t keep a straight face!"

Elsewhere in the segment, Goldberg's co-host Behar gifted her some of her famous lasagna to celebrate her special day.

"Joy makes the greatest lasagna ever and you know you’ve heard us talk about it," Goldberg gushed.
