Tori Spelling reveals she doesn’t drink water in bizarre admission

The former 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star recalled an incident during her childhood which triggered her aversion

We might need water to survive - but Tori Spelling has this week alluded to being superhuman.

In fact, speaking on her popular MisSpelling podcast this week, the Beverly Hills, 90210 actress claimed she doesn't drink H2O under any circumstances.

It turns out, however, that the 51-year-old's self-professed 'aversion' to water comes from a traumatic childhood incident, that set a precedent for her swapping the hydrating beverage for other sugary substitutes.

Chatting to her viewers on the latest episode of the pod (11 Mar), Spelling kicked off the controversial confessional by comparison herself to 'a cacti'. I know, that's a lot of c's.

"Just water me once in a while, and I somehow survive," she joked. "How I’m still living, no one knows. I don’t drink water.

"And when I say I don’t drink water, I don’t drink water."

Explaining when and how her fear of all things aqua started, Spelling took her fans back to her childhood years.

She recalled being a young girl, when her mother - US author and theatre producer Candy Spelling - would offer her medication whilst she was unwell by mashing the treatment up with Coca Cola syrup in order to administer it.

"I would say, 'What’d you put in here? Like, what are you giving me?'" the TV star recalled, adding of her mother: "And she would say the same thing, ‘What, you think I’m trying to poison you?'"

Mother-of-five Spelling went on to admit that, whilst married to her ex-partner Dean McDermott and pregnant with her children, she forced herself water with the knowledge that it was needed to 'hydrate the baby growing in you'.

The actress is mother to sons Liam, 17, Finn, 12, and Beau, eight, and daughters Stella, 16, Hattie, 13.

Reminiscing on the torture of water intake during her pregnancy, Spelling admitted: "But in my mind, I was like, 'I’m drinking for them, not myself'.

"I can guzzle, like, a glass of wine in, like, two seconds. No problem. But I take a few sips of water and swallow gently, and all of a sudden, I’m like, 'I want to puke.'"

Following suspicions about her mother intervening with her beverages, she added on the podcasts that she also assumed on several occasions that her former flame McDermott, 58, was 'spiking' her drinks.

"I was like, ‘Listen, it’s not personal. I think this about everybody'," she recalled of her ex. "This crazy, irrational fear of handed over liquids from other people.

Spelling emphasised, however: "I don’t call it a fear of water. I just like to say I hate water, I have an allergy to water."

Asked what she drinks instead of water, in a bid to keep her organs healthy, she claimed to consume ginger ale, Diet Dr. Pepper and coconut water on a regular basis.

I guess that's something?
