Timothèe Chalamet has already found himself as the subject of multiple jokes at this year's Oscars.

The 30-year-old actor is battling it out for the Best Actor award for his role in Marty Supreme, however, his comments about ballet and opera have landed him in hot water recently.

He said during a University of Texas talk with Matthew McConaughey: "I don’t want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though like no one cares about this anymore. All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there.”

Understandably, the comment didn't go down too well, and it's already been hinted at multiple times during the show.

Poking fun, host Conan O'Brien said within minutes, “Security is extremely tight tonight. I'm told there's concern about attacks from both the opera and ballet community. You're just mad you left out jazz!"

Then, ballet legend Misty Copeland took to the Oscars stage during a performance of 'I Lied to You,' the Oscar-nominated song from Sinners, making for an awkward moment for Chalamet.

One X user penned: "Putting Misty Copeland center stage oh timmy it’s bad for u #oscars."

While a second added: "Timothee Chalamet seen shaking when Misty Copeland came dancing out. #oscars."

A third penned: "Timothée showed up for an Oscar. Got a comedy special instead."

And a fourth agreed: "That was a spot-on roast by Conan! Timothée took it like a champ."

"The man just watched his odds tank over those comments, and now he's sitting there taking it on live TV. Gotta respect how he handled it," wrote a fifth.

A sixth joked: "Noticed how one of the first musical numbers is Opera wonder if they would’ve done that if Timothee hadn’t made that comment about opera #Oscars."

The 98th Academy Awards, as usual, are being held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles tonight (15 March).

Hollywood's biggest names in the world of movies and entertainment are gathered together to see who will take home one of the most prestigious awards in the film industry.

The show is airing on ABC, streaming on Hulu, and airing live in more than 200 territories worldwide.

As we say, American TV show host and comedian O'Brien, 62, is hosting the awards for his second consecutive year, after getting a slew of good reviews the first time around.

Meanwhile, journalist Amelia Dimoldenberg, best known for hosting the celebrity interview series Chicken Shop Date, has returned for the third year in a row as social media ambassador and correspondent for the official red carpet.

As for the nominees, Sinners, starring Michael. B Jordan leads the way with an impressive 16 nominations, breaking the record for the most Oscar nods, which was previously held by the movies All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997), and La La Land (2016).

Meanwhile, One Battle After Another has an incredible 13 nominations, and Marty Supreme, Frankenstein, and Sentimental Value have nine each, while Hamnet has eight.

Battling it out in a tight race for Best Actor are Timothee Chalamet, who’s nominated for his role in Marty Supreme, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio for One Battle After Another, Ethan Hawke for Blue Moon, Michael B. Jordan in Sinners, and Wagner Moura in The Secret Agent.

As for Best Actress, Kate Hudson is nominated for her role in Song Sung Blue, as well as Rose Byrne in If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, Renate Reinsve in Sentimental Value, and Emma Stone for Bugonia.

Chalamet is up for Best Actor (A24, Warner Bros. Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, Warner Bros. Pictures, Mubi)
