Spencer Matthews denies overdose on cold sore tablets whilst on holiday with wife Vogue Williams

The former Made In Chelsea has hit out at claims he overdosed and died after taking cold sore pills.

Spencer Matthews has responded to reports claiming he overdosed on cold sore pills while on holiday in the most Spencer Matthews way possible.

The former Made in Chelsea star had to stay in hospital for two days while enjoying a trip to Spain with his family.

Spencer and Vogue were on holiday when Jamie and Sophie got married last week.

Spencer was enjoying a getaway with his wife, Vogue Williams, and their three young children; Theo, Gigi and Otto. Although rumours started to spread suggesting that he had overdosed on cold sore medication and passed away, which is far from the case.

To debunk the rumours, Spencer took to Instagram to post one of the fake stories to laugh at the headline which read: “Former Made in Chelsea star overdosed on cold sore pills on family holiday.”

Using laughing-face emojis to respond to the Facebook post, which had accumulated three reactions and nine comments, the TV star clarified: “For the avoidance of doubt… I’m still alive."

“Also I was hospitalised with a virus but overdose on cold sore stuff sounds more interesting I guess?”

Vogue opened up about the rumours about her husband's overdose - which didn't happen - on a recent episode of her podcast, My Therapist Ghosted Me.

As it turns out, there was a little accident but not an overdose. When the family were in Spain, the couple became poorly by a sickness bug.

However, the reality star ‘was hospitalised for two days because he is a little b*tch and he can’t handle it’, she told her co-host, comedian Joanne McNally.

“Well, I will tell you what, he overdosed on cold sore tablets," Williams continued. "I am not joking, I am not joking, I'm not.

“He overdosed on cold sore tablets and his liver function, because he did it for a full week, taking ten of these things and he said, 'Oh, they're fine'.

"And he did it to me when I thought I felt a tingle and he said, 'Darling take six of these and you'll be fine', and you're only meant to take two.”

The mum-of-three and podcaster also clarified that it was most likely the bug followed by the medication that landed Matthews in hospital.

Earlier this year, Spencer Matthews clarified the reason why he wasn’t at best friend Jamie Laing’s wedding.

Pictures of Jamie Laing's girlfriend, Sophie Habboo, were shared of the couple as they emerged from the registry office hand-in-hand in matching shades.

However, fans were quick to notice that Spencer wasn't there when the registry wedding took place.

Spencer claimed that he wasn’t ‘invited’ to the low-key ceremony and he chatted about missing the wedding a podcast, where they both set the record straight about their absence after being sent ‘really mean messages’.

“I’m being absolutely hammered for ‘snubbing’ my best friend’s wedding to go on holiday," he said.

“I’m not here to b***h about my best friend but there’s been some serious miscommunication from him.”

He addressed speculation, explaining that Jamie had insisted that hardly anyone was coming to the wedding, which he said would be a ‘tiny’ affair. “I just want set the record straight... I’m not here to whinge. I was not invited to this part of Jamie’s wedding, and neither was Vogue.”
