Shakira responds to claims that 'jam jar' aided her discovery that ex was 'cheating'

Shakira responds to claims that 'jam jar' aided her discovery that ex was 'cheating'

She finally addressed the speculation

The world was rocked a couple years back when Shakira and Gerard Piqué announced that they were splitting up after 11 years together.

The news sent music and football fans all over into a frenzy with many rushing to social media to share their speculation that Shakira eventually found out about Piqué's alleged infidelity after looking in her fridge one day.

For some context, just two months before the 'Hips Don't Lie' star and the Barcelona footballer parted ways in 2022, she released a music video for 'Te Felicito' with Rauw Alejandro.

Shakir, 47, opened up about the whole jam jar drama.

Now, this is where things really went into overdrive.

The music video, which shows the Colombian singer looking in her fridge, sparked speculation of how the Colombian superstar may have found out about Piqué, 37, and Marti’s relationship.

She was later questioned about the moment when she visited This Morning in May 2022.

In the interview, which was translated from Spanish to English per Show News Today, Shakira reportedly said she looked in the fridge 'to find the truth', adding, "It is when I go to the fridge and find the head of Rauw Alejandro."

The outlet also referenced an interview with the Spanish TV show, Socialite, claiming Shakira discovered Piqué's alleged cheating after she came home from a trip and found that some of her jam was missing.

Apparently, Piqué - who has since started a relationship with 25-year-old model Clara Chia Marti - nor their two children, Milan and Sasha, liked this particular flavour of jam.

This allegedly lead the 'She Wolf' hit-maker to believe someone else had been inside her home.

Since all of that chaos, Shakia has finally addressed such claims that a 'jam jar' aided her discovery that ex-husband was 'cheating'.

In a new interview with The Sunday Times, she had a short and simple response when asked if Piqué's alleged cheating was exposed by a jar of jam of all things.

"Not true," she told the outlet, putting the whole thing to bed once and for all at long last.

Well, I guess that settles that then.

Speaking to People en Español, Shakira previously said she was 'very excited' to release new music that discuss the 'different stages' she has gone through 'spiritually, mentally and even physically'.

She added: "I have gone through denial, rage, pain, acceptance, grief, hope, deception, hope again, excitement.

"So many emotions and feelings that at times seem mixed, that didn’t seem to be able to coexist inside of me, that I have been able to untangle only through my songs, to understand myself better.

"Not to explain or justify myself, only to understand myself and tolerate myself."
