A rumour has been spreading on social media that Wicked co-stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are in a 'non-demi-curious semi-binary relationship'.
Now, it's no secret that Ariana, 32, who plays the role of Glinda, and Cynthia, 38, who plays the role of Elphaba, have formed a close bond throughout their time working together.
Throughout Wicked: For Good's promotional tour and the previous promo tour for the first movie last year, the celebrity duo are often seen holding hands or touching each other affectionately, which Grande has previously addressed.
And their touchy friendship has caused quite the stir online, prompting fans to speculate whether they could be dating in real life - despite both having partners.

The rumours were ramped up this week when a fake post spreading misinformation claimed they were in a 'non-demi-curious semi-binary relationship'.

In the caption, it even included a completely made-up quote from Cynthia, which read: "It means we are not actually a couple, but we are curious about what that could mean and everything."
The claim has since been debunked, despite spreading like wildfire across the internet, and it's since been revealed that it actually originated from a satire page on Facebook.
The bio of the Facebook page thought to have started the rumour reads: "Where truth goes to die and sarcasm reigns supreme. Serving up satire, nonsense, and gloriously unreliable stories."
Ariana is currently in a relationship with her other Wicked co-star, Ethan Slater, who plays Boq, while Cynthia identifies as queer and bisexual and is in a relationship with writer and comedian Lena Waithe.
However, with the false claim making its way around every social media platform, some Wicked fans have questioned what a 'non-demi-curious semi-binary relationship' actually is.
What is a 'non-demi-curious semi-binary relationship'?
According to Pink News, the term demigender is an umbrella term for nonbinary gender identities that have a partial connection to a specific gender. Meanwhile, semi-binary is a subcategory for genders that partially relate to a binary gender but also a non-binary gender, such as demigirl.
However, in this instance, it's likely that the Facebook page just threw together any terms they could to go viral, with Pink News previously reporting last year that another parody news page had falsely claimed singer Sam Smith had come out as 'semi-bisexual'.

Before knowing it was fake, one confused social media user took to Reddit to question: "Is this like a friendship with sex or a regular romantic relationship?"
Meanwhile, another asked: "So a codependent, non-sexual romantic relationship?"
Another person candidly admitted: "I'm queer and I have no clue what that means," while someone else said: "Fr I’m literally begging someone to decode this in a serious way. I know it is an unserious topic but I need a serious answer."
Either way, it's been confirmed as fake!
