Celebrity baby names are known to be a little eccentric at times, but fans of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are hitting back at those who are judging their children’s names.

From Apple Martin to X Æ A-Ⅻ Musk, celebs seem to have a knack for giving their kids unique monikers.

However, fans aren’t taking flack towards their favourite celebrity couple too well after they revealed the gender of their fourth child.

Deadpool actor Reynolds spoke about his family after attending the New York City screening of his Deadpool & Wolverine movie on 22 July.

The couple have been pretty hush hush when it comes to the names and lives of their children, and who can blame them?

But it was when Reynolds mentioned John Bell - a Wrexham AFC fan who recently lost his son - that he seemed to inadvertently reveal the gender of the couple’s fourth child which had been under wraps since they confirmed their birth in 2023.

Reynolds said: “I just want to start by saying thank you to my wife, Blake, who’s here. Her outfit is amazing, spoiler alert.”

Let’s be honest, her outfit was amazing.

The actor continued: “I want to thank my kids – James, Inez, Betty, Olin – who are here. I hope that, if I’m lucky, this moment will be the most traumatic thing – that is, the contents of this movie – that happens in your wondrous life.”

He added: “I love that my entire family is here.”

People online were not too pleased with their choice to name their child Olin, and let the actor know online after he revealed the name.

One person said: “Terrible name if it’s a girl. Which it probably is.”

Someone else chimed in: “All the names are terrible. Whatever gender.”

Another said: “Olin is the name of a large corporation producing chemicals.”

Discussing Bell and the grief he is going through with the loss of his son, Reynolds said: “I want to share with you that I too have a son and that if … boy, John, if I love him one-tenth as much as you love Jake, I feel like I’ve done a pretty damn good job.”

His heartfelt speech inadvertently confirmed that Olin is a little boy.

After getting flack for their choice of name, fans flocked to Instagram to show their support and praise the pair for their decision to be unique.

One person wrote: “Their names aren’t even that weird.”

Another said: “What the…it’s their choice not the choice of fans.”

Someone else wrote: “I have a friend who named her baby boy Olin – 15 years ago. It is unusual, a good thing.”

Finally, one person enjoyed how the couple protect their children from the fame, writing: “I find it refreshing that they mostly keep their private life out of the spotlight, especially their children.”

The couple have been candid about their love for each other and their children, however, you’d be hard pressed to find their kids splashed all over their social media accounts or turning up to a slew of high-profile events where they could be papped and put in the news.

It’s definitely a refreshing choice.
