A 'disgusting' viral video of Renée Zellweger and Demi Moore has women making a seriously important point.
The video in question saw a side-by-side clip of Zellweger talking to reporters and Moore accepting her Golden Globe award earlier this year (January 6).
The overlay text of the original clip read 'You can look like this at 55' over Zellweger while 'or like this at 62: the choice is yours' over Moore; a statement which not only pits two extremely talented women against each other, but shames and judges them for how they have aged based on the cosmetic work they have or have not had done.

Thankfully, body confidence advocate Alex Light called out the 'toxic' message behind the video and took to Instagram to share her response with her 591k followers.
Alex captioned the clip: "This (very) viral reel is a disgusting display of ageism and body shaming. Women deserve respect, not toxic comparisons and judgement.
"What’s even worse? This video is being used to promote a cosmetic clinic and their injectable services.

"A woman wants to have botox? Great. Another doesn’t want to? Also great. None of our business, and actually really not interesting.
"Ageing is a privilege, not a flaw. Let’s stop valuing it by how invisible it is on our faces and instead start honouring the power, wisdom, resilience and strength that comes with it."
Couldn't have said it better myself!

And it's clear the internet agrees, with many rushing to the comments to share their thoughts on the clip.
One Instagram user hit out: "Vomit worthy. It feels like this sort of vitriol is reserved for women."
"Renée has also been criticised when she did have work done, now she’s stepped away from treatments she is again being criticised. Can’t win," penned a second.
A third chimed in: "Just. Let. Women. Be. Themselves. Be passionate, be creative, be ruthless, be sexual, be strong, be brave. I don’t care what i’ll look like at 60, I'll just be grateful to make it there."

"People still body shaming in 2025???" asked a fourth while a fifth urged: "Freakin let us age in peace. Stop putting us under the microscope."
Pointing out the entire plot of The Substance, which is a satirical body-horror about a 'better, younger, more beautiful' version of yourself Moore recently received a Golden Globe award for, a sixth added: "The irony as well considering the film Demi Moore has just been in!!!"
Amidst the overt ageism and misogyny, another pointed out the clip was 'shamefully pitting two women against each other' - something which seems like an extremely recurring trope when it comes to Hollywood.

And a final Instagram user added: "Urgh it’s exhausting!"
You can say that again.
