Phillip Schofield's wife Stephanie Lowe has touching reason why she 'won't divorce him'

Phillip Schofield's wife Stephanie Lowe has touching reason why she 'won't divorce him'

The pair have been married since 1993

Stephanie Lowe's marriage to Phillip Schofield has not been easy to say the least.

In 2020, the former This Morning and The Chase presenter came out as gay on live TV and six months ago, it was revealed that the 61-year-old had previously had an ‘unwise, but not illegal’ fling with a much younger man.

Despite it all, the pair are still married, with Stephanie, 59, revealing the sweet reason she won't file for divorce.

Phil and Steph got married in 1993 and share two daughters together: 30-year-old Molly and 27-year-old Ruby.

After 27 years of marriage, they separated in 2020 when Phil came as gay, live on This Morning.

The emotional announcement was accompanied by tears and a promise to 'celebrate and be proud' of his sexuality, while fellow presenters Holly Willoughby, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford rallied around to support him.

Then, earlier this year, the veteran presenter was forced to quit his presenting job when it was revealed that he'd had an affair with a younger man behind the scenes of the long-running daytime show.

But, while many fans think a divorce must surely be on the cards for Phil and Steph, a source has shared that it could yet be some time before this happens.

The source told OK! Magazine: “Whatever Phillip has done behind Steph’s back, she still loves him...

"Even if the love they shared in the beginning of their marriage is different to what it is now, the love is still very much there."

They continued to suggest that Steph doesn't want to add insult to injury for Phil, who has arguably seen a major fall from grace over the past year.

"Steph is, and always will be, Phillip’s support system. She hasn’t divorced him because she doesn’t want to see him fall any further," they claimed.

The marriage update comes just weeks after claims that they're planning to spend Christmas together.

At the beginning of the month, a source revealed: "Christmas is all about spending time with the people you love. While Phil and Steph are no longer together in the traditional sense, there's still a lot of love between them."

They added: "Phil spends a lot of time with his family, which includes Steph, so it's natural that they'd spend the big day together."
