Nicola Peltz defended as heartbreaking post about death of ‘healthy’ dog following visit to groomers sparks backlash

Nicola Peltz Beckham is receiving a wave of support after her Instagram post mourning the loss of her beloved dog was overtaken by nasty comments.

It has been weeks since Nicola sued the dog grooming company for 'intentional and malicious abuse' over the death of her pet chihuahua, Nala.

Initially, Nala had been booked into Houndspa LLC to be bathed and dried, have her nails trimmed and her teeth and ears cleaned.

A simple visit that turned horribly wrong.

In files obtained by E! News on Tuesday (30 July), Nicola filed a lawsuit against the New York mobile dog grooming service that looked after Nala, Houndspa LLC, as well as the owner Deborah Gittleman and groomer Jony Ceballos.

The lawsuit claims that Nala entered the groomers a 'happy and healthy' dog, but after 20 to 25 minutes, returned 'injured and in severe physical distress - breathing heavily and wheezing, with her chest pulsating'.

Actress Nicola, who is married to Brooklyn Beckham, shared with her Instagram followers on 16 June that Nala had died the day before.

At the time, she wrote: "I can’t even find the words to describe my heartbreak on so many levels. nala was perfectly healthy when she went to the groomers yesterday but came out hyperventilating and couldn’t catch her breath. we rushed her to the vet and she passed hours later."

Unfortunately, her posts about her dog, especially her latest which shows her and her husband crouching on the ground in grief beside a tiny coffin gained a lot of hate.

People called her out of touch, with one person saying: “nicola there’s PEOPLE that are dying.”

However, her fans overwhelmed any nasty comment, refusing to let anyone tell her ‘how to grieve’.

One person wrote: “Reading some of the comments of y’all ripping her apart for MOURNING are insaneee!!!!! You’re allowed to grieve the losses of things other than other humans!!! I was devastated when my brother died and I was devastated when my dog of 14 years died!!! Two things can be true at once! Why not leave a kind word to someone mourning!”

Another commented: “If you've ever lost a pet that truly is part of the family then you would know the heartache it brings to everyone who loved them. Some may think this is ott but at the end of the day it was you're best friend - let them grieve without the hate on a issue that needs more awareness.”

Someone else said: “The loss of a pet is truly heartbreaking but this is a bit much!”

Nicola is directly accusing groomer Ceballos of previous mistreatment.

The lawsuit adds: "Nicola was shocked as she had not known nor understood that Ceballos was still employed by and being used by HoundSpa as a groomer - even after receiving complaints of mistreatment during his mobile grooming."

It also claims that when Ceballos was confronted about Nala's treatment, 'his story kept changing about what happened and what he did'.

Tyla contacted Houndspa LLC for comment.
