Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan made her debut at the 2024 Emmy Awards but fans have slammed the way she appeared to be treated on the red carpet.
On Sunday (15 September), Irish actor Nicola, 37, attended the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theatre.
She and Jonathan Bailey were the only Bridgerton alumni in attendance due to the Netflix staple missing the 31 May eligibility deadline for the ceremony.

Ahead of Nicola and Baby Reindeer’s Nava Mau handing the Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie gong to Fargo’s Lamorne Morris, the Derry Girls star stepped out for press photographs on the busy red carpet.
After getting snapped in a sparkling silver structured Prabal Gurung gown, Nicola admitted to Access Hollywood that she’d lost her nerve upon seeing an icon standing near her.
“I went to get my photos taken, and then I looked to my left and Jennifer Aniston was standing right beside me,” she exclaimed.
"I heard her voice, and I gasped! I am normally quite ok, but I mean, she's Rachel [Green, from Friends].”
And while the Galloway-born star's interview about Jennifer has gone viral for the right reasons, another moment at the Emmys has sent fans reeling.
In a video taken while Nicola posed in the off-the-shoulder dress, a couple could be seen simply walking in front of the photographer.
Seconds after pausing proceedings, the cameraman was forced to usher away another celebrity guest who got in the way of his art.
During the 17-second clip, another two men walked in front of Nicola and it appears the internet has a lot to say about the incident.
“Let the queen enjoy her moment why they keep disrupting her,” commented one baffled fan.
Another typed: “Can't intimidate a true queen.”
Someone else joked: “I need Chappell Roan to be her personal bodyguard and protect her.”
A fourth user wrote: “She seems so sweet but... so rude those people.”
Another penned: “I don’t understand where her ppl were in this moment… she kinda looked like she was out there by herself tonight… it was weird.”
Following a triumphant third season of Bridgerton, Nicola has already confirmed she’ll return to the 'ton as the newly married Penelope Bridgerton (née Featherington) in the show’s fourth outing.
The upcoming series is set to switch its focus to Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson), who will meet a ‘captivating Lady in Silver’ at his mother’s masquerade ball.
Speaking about her inclusion in Bridgerton season four, Nicola told The Wrap: “They’ve told us we’re back for season 4, which is super lovely… It’ll be exciting. [We’ll] pop back and have some fun for sure.”
