Matthew Perry’s ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz has shared a sweet tribute to the star, following his tragic death at the age of 54.

Perry died at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday (28 October), with reports he was found dead in his hot tub.

It is believed that no drugs were found at the scene of Perry’s death, with law enforcement telling TMZ that first responders were initially called to Perry’s home for a 'water rescue'.

"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother,” his family said in a statement.

"Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend."

Since news of his death broke, tributes have come pouring in for the star, who was best known for playing Chandler Bing in Friends.

His ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz posted a lengthy statement on Instagram, saying she feels ‘relief’ that he is now at peace.

“He would love that the world is talking about how talented he was,” the literary manager wrote.

“And he really was very talented.

“As the Friends reunion was approaching, we rewatched the show together.

“’F**k, I was so good!!!… See what I did there???’

“We rewound and studied scenes. Our respect and appreciation of humor is something that connected us. Being with him as he rediscovered his brilliance was magical.

“But, I obviously knew that man in a very different way, too. While I loved him deeper than I could comprehend, he was complicated, and he caused pain like I’d never known.”

Hurwitz got engaged to Perry back in 2020, but the pair parted ways in 2021.

She added: “No one in my adult life has had a more profound impact on me than Matthew Langford Perry. I have tremendous gratitude for that, for everything I learned from our relationship.

“I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Al Anon [Alcoholics Anonymous], an invaluable resource for those who love someone struggling with this destructive disease.

“Matty, I feel relief that you are at peace.”

Friends stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer have also released a joint statement remembering Perry.

They said: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family.

"There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able.

"For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."
