Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau seemingly becoming an item wasn't on anybody's bingo card for 2025, but it appears to have gone down well with fans.
After the pop star/astronaut and the politician were photographed looking loved-up on a yacht, everyone has been wondering how this pairing came to be.
'California Gurls' singer Katy, 40, was snapped kissing the former prime minister of Canada, 53, in a series of pictures which were taken last month.
While nothing has been officially said by either party, some fans have taken the latest snaps as confirmation of a relationship.

It comes after TMZ shared photos of Katy and Justin enjoying dinner together, with an eyewitness claiming the pair were '[sipping] cocktails and shared several dishes, including one with lobster'.
Of all the celebrity romances, this one seems to have taken many people by surprise, so how did they meet and how long have they been 'dating'?

Divorce
Justin Trudeau was previously married to his wife, Sophie, 50, for 18 years. The pair have three children together.

That all came crashing down in August 2023, when Justin wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post: "Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate.
"As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build."
In July 2025, Katy and Orlando Bloom, 48, announced their split in a statement via their reps: "Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting.
"They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect."

The couple had been engaged since 2019 and share one daughter together.
Dinner dates
According to The Sun, Katy and Justin went for a fancy dinner at the end of July, just weeks after her split from Orlando became public.

The pair had reportedly 'been in contact for weeks after meeting at an event', before they were spotted at Le Violon in Canada, while the singer was on tour there.
A source who previously worked with Justin told the publication: "Justin has been single for a while and has enjoyed getting to know her. He likes her personality, and they are two people who really enjoy chatting about different topics, and they click very well so far, as they are going to see each other again very soon."
He apparently described her as a 'breath of fresh air'.
The two were then photographed again the next day, in different outfits, suggesting more than one date was on the cards.
Concert appearance
Following in the footsteps of Travis Kelce singing along to Taylor Swift concerts, Justin was then spotted a day later, on 30 July, singing along to 'Firework' at Katy's concert in Montreal, Canada.

Footage of the politician at the show soon went viral, after a fan noticed him in the crowd alongside his daughter.
Pressure
In August, a source told the Daily Mail: "I know for a fact that Justin wasn't thrilled about the pictures getting out, it was a first date. A first date!
"These pictures came out and it became this huge thing, which is not what he seems to have wanted."
The source went on to claim that it's all part of the fun with Katy, adding: "You have to deal with the paparazzi and the fallout. I don't know how prepared he was for that. It can be a lot and it can be overwhelming."

Loved-up display
It seems Justin may have got over his alleged upset about the photos, as the rumoured couple have been snapped kissing and cuddling on a 24 metre yacht, called the Caravelle.
They were sailing in the Santa Barbara Channel, California, on 29 September when a group of whale watching tourists noticed the pair and took the pics.
According to local residents, Katy owns the impressive yacht.
One onlooker claimed: "She pulled up her boat next to a small public whale-watching boat, then they started making out.
"I didn't realise who she was with until I saw the tattoos on the guy's arm, and I immediately realised it was Justin Trudeau."
