Actress Kate Beckinsale has had a difficult time of late, but she's opened up about the difficulties she's been facing to fans.

The Serendipity actress sparked concern earlier this year when she shared pictures to Instagram from a hospital bed in LA, which were then later deleted with Beckinsale refusing to comment on her health.

On a video to social media, Kate appeared to be in better health as she showed off her slim frame in a pink bikini and black leather boots. However she hit with a troll comment, which posted on her Instagram picture: "Go do some squats @katebeckinsale I think ur a** ran away."

Hitting back, Beckinsale revealed the recent traumatic time she's been through and gave her fans a health update as she replied: "No, actually, I watched my stepfather die quite shockingly, my mother has stage 4 cancer, and I lost a lot of weight from stress and grief, quite quickly.

"And then I was in hospital for six weeks because the grief had burned a hole in my oesophagus which made me vomit copious amounts of blood, and I found eating very hard.

"And I just worked very, very hard on a movie that was actually quite triggering because it also involved the theme of the death of my father so I’m not really concerned about what you think about my a**.

"Maybe you should worry about your own f**king a**. I suggest shoving something up it-like a large pineapple or a brick."

Seeing the comment, many of Beckinsale's fans leaped to share support as one posted: "You have more true fans who appreciate you than haters. Always know this."

Another echoed their thoughts and added: "The incredible level of misogynistic/hateful comments are unreal. Hang tough. Keep on crushing life."

"So many haters, why?" asked a third.

Acknowledging her loyal and supportive fans, Beckinsale added: "Oh I love my followers I really do -some of them are such incredible decent supportive brilliant souls of me and of each other.

"I actually have a problem with two people who keep making multiple accounts so don’t be fooled. A lot of this is them."

Beckinsale has also been honest with fans about the recent difficulties, including losing her pet cat Clive a year ago.

Sharing a cheeky video of her mooning in the streets of London, she thanked a close friend for their support as she wrote on social media: "The day after Clive died and I received some of the most horrific news I’ve ever received that next morning.

"Sometimes there’s nothing for it but for your friend to show up as hard as possible and spend the evening making prank calls and mooning Harvey Nichols because sometimes when the bottom falls out of your world the only response after crying till you’re sick is your own bottom.

"@nina_kate I’ll never forget you jumping into the fire with me x."
