Kaley Cuoco’s boyfriend Tom Pelphrey had no idea she had appeared in The Big Bang Theory, admitting that he ‘lives in a cave’ when it comes to pop culture.

Kaley appeared as Penny across all 12 seasons of the hit sitcom, which ran from 2007 to 2019 - but despite the show’s astronomical success, her other half Tom was completely oblivious.

Actor Tom, who has starred in Ozark and Love & Death, admitted he hadn’t seen the show and therefore didn’t realise Kaley was in it.

Speaking during an interview with W Magazine, Tom let slip that he only discovered his girlfriend’s most famous role - for which she earned a whopping $1 million per episode - after his mum’s partner called her Penny.

He revealed: "Matter of fact, when I first brought Kaley to New Jersey to meet my family and friends, my mom's partner—who apparently was a Big Bang Theory fan—was there, and he kept calling her Penny. I had no clue what was going on.

"So I pulled Kaley aside, like, 'I'm sorry, I don't understand what's happening. Why does he keep calling you Penny?'

"She's like, 'That's my character in The Big Bang Theory.' I was completely unaware. I've watched a few episodes with her since, and, obviously, she's fantastic."

Tom went on to share that he was unfamiliar with most of Kaley’s work, which also includes 8 Simple Rules and Charmed.

“I hadn't seen Kaley in anything," the 41-year-old continued.

"Look, I live in a cave. Before I met Kaley, I was living in upstate New York, on a dirt road, in the middle of the woods, without much Wi-Fi. She's brought me into modern times."

Kaley and Tom went public with their relationship back in May 2022 and announced they were expecting their first child in October.

On 30 March this year, Kaley confirmed that she had given birth to a little girl named Matilda.

In a post on Instagram, the delighted new-mum wrote: "3-30-23 Introducing Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey, the new light of our lives!

The couple welcomed a little girl earlier this year.

"We are overjoyed and grateful for this little miracle. Thank you to the doctors , nurses , family and friends who have helped us immensely over the last few days. We are blessed beyond belief."

She then added: "@tommypelphrey didn’t think I could fall even more in love with you , but I did."

Tom also shared the good news to Instagram, posting a series of snaps and opening with a quote from the poet Rumi, he wrote: "'You are the Soul of the Universe. And your name is Love.’ -Rumi.

“My heart is full of love and gratitude for this miracle….Matilda Carmine Richie Pelphrey.

“Eternally grateful for the strength and bravery of my soulmate and best friend @kaleycuoco. You are incredible.”
