The Friends actress had met Theroux in 2011 through mutual friend Ben Stiller on the set of Tropic Thunder, which the pair co-wrote.
They in late 2017, however, two years after tying the knot at their Bel Air, Los Angeles estate. The decision reportedly stemmed from irreconcilable lifestyle differences, including far-stretched filming locations and bustling daily routines.
Since then, their relationship has remained surprisingly amicable, with the duo remaining friends - including after Theroux, also 54, began dating actress Nicole Brydon Bloom in 2024.
Over the weekend (18 Apr), the film star and screenwriter welcomed his first child with Bloom, 32, a son whose name hasn't yet been revealed.

Shortly after, fans were pleasantly surprised to see that Aniston had 'liked' her ex's upload, showing her support of Theroux's major milestone.
The move seemed especially poignant, being made after Aniston revealed she went through private IVF in an attempt to conceive a child, all the while facing criticism for prioritising her professional work in the midst of her divorce from her first husband, Brad Pitt.
She told Harper's Bazaar in 2022: "They didn’t know my story. Or what I’d been going through over the past 20 years to try to pursue a family, because I don’t go out there and tell them my medical woes.

Discussing her heartache again on an episode of the Armchair Expert podcast last year, Aniston discussed her decision not to adopt.
"When people say, 'But you can adopt,' I don't want to adopt. I want my own DNA in a little person. That's the only way, selfish or not, whatever that is, I've wanted it," she bravely confessed.
Aniston was also asked at the time if she'd made 'peace' with the fact she wouldn't welcome a child of her own, to which she responded: "It's so peaceful. But I will say there's a point where it's like out of my control. There's literally nothing I can do about it.

With her heartbreaking fertility journey in mind, fans of the Primetime Emmy-winning actress have praised her for reaching out to her former flame over what would undoubtedly have been a sensitive topic.
"Jennifer Aniston keeping it classy, I love to see that kind of maturity," one wrote on X.
Another noted: "No revenge, just kindness and courage."
A third went on: "This is actually really beautiful. They were married from 2015 to 2018 and have remained on amicable terms since their split, and now she's quietly cheering him on as a new dad.
