Joe Jonas defended himself after revealing who he lost his virginity to and sparking controversy

Joe Jonas has defended himself after controversially revealing who he lost his virginity to many years ago.

While some people are of the opinion that certain things should remain private, Jonas, now 35, revealed in a Reddit thread which celebrity ex he lost his virginity to, and how exactly it happened.

Back in 2016, he led an 'Ask Me Anything' where he revealed he'd lost his virginity to his former girlfriend, Twilight star Ashley Greene.

Greene played Alice Cullen in the Twilight saga, and has also starred in Wrong Place and Bombshell.

"I lost my virginity to this girl named Ashley. You can probably just Google it. It's pretty easy to figure out," Jonas wrote on Reddit, before delving into the story of what happened.

"I didn’t have any condoms," he recalled.

"So I went to our drummer Jack’s room - who was my roommate at the time - and I demolished his room looking for them.

"[I] found them underneath his underwear drawer.

"When he came home, he thought somebody broke into his room because his whole room was demolished."

The singer continued: "I was in dire need.

"Needed to happen then and now. Safety first, kids."

It seems Ashley wasn't entirely impressed with the admission, and just a day later, she posted a picture of a cryptic quote which said: "Class is timeless."

What ever happened to a gentleman never tells, eh?

A few days after Jonas' admission, he decided to explain why he'd spilled the information all over the internet.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in October 2016, he said: "I don't know. I think life's too short, you know?

"I mean ultimately, I think of myself as an honest guy. There are just those moments in life where you have to be true to yourself and true to the world.

"I'm not out to hurt anybody, but I think, ultimately, I'm just telling my stories and what I can say from my heart."

While Greene is now married to entrepreneur Paul Khoury, Jonas shares two children with Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner.

The pair tied the knot back in 2019, but divorced last year.

In a joint statement announcing the split, they said: "After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage.

"There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision.

"We sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children."
