Celebs attending award shows have a long history of speaking out about the reality of looking fabulous.

Some have taken 'beauty is pain' perhaps a little too far, from Anne Hathaway posting a clip of her struggling to sit down in a red corset midi, to Bella Hadid revealing she 'couldn't move' after hairstylist Jen Atkin 'sewed a whole entire 10-pound veil' to her head.

Jennifer Garner once suffered the same fate back in 2016, when she rocked up to the Oscars in a tailor-made Atelier Versace dress - which left the actor feeling anything but comfortable.

At the time, she was fresh off the announcement of a divorce from Ben Affleck, who she married in 2005 and shares three children with.

The gathered detail and sparkly bust was so iconic it even became the most Googled Oscar dress in 2016.

But Garner remembers another reason she continues to remember the evening, and THAT dress.

Talking to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show a month later, she said: "That was not easy to wear. Do you know how they make it?

"You see, I have a waist there? I don't have one in real life anymore.

"There's basically two men who come in with screw guns, and they screwed me into a metal corset.

"The next thing you know, my ribs were compressed. It's so intense.

"There's metal inside it, and these people just kind of move your ribs, move your liver over to the side, and they pop you in.

"But first, you step into a bodysuit, which is like in the bottom of a leotard, but it is a thong."

As well as explaining the painful process of the fitting, Garner revealed the evening did not go without a hitch.

She continued: "I went with one of my best girlfriends. We’ve gone to six or seven of those things together. Suddenly, my ribs started to get a panic attack.

"I was having a muscle spasm. Everything [inside her body] started to freak out."

Then, Garner came to explain the eventful and nearly embarrassing moment when she realised she needed a bathroom break.

She said: "The connection of the bodysuit, because it had a hook and eye situation, was in an intimate position.

"I couldn’t reach it. So I told my friend, ‘I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I think you’ll have to get this.' And she gave it a good college try."

To make matters worse, the American actor - known for starring in 13 Going on 30 and Pearl Harbour - had not attended an Oscars since 2013, when she turned up with then-hubby Ben Affleck.

This comes after her daughter, Violet, revealed the reason she wears a specific piece of clothing out in public.

The 18-year-old has regularly been papped wearing a mask whilst outside, with many assuming the celebrity was simply being cautious in a post-pandemic world.

Part of an A-list family, the youngster has revealed she suffers from a 'post-viral condition' and has called-on officials to 'confront the long COVID crisis'.

As a result, hundreds of fans have praised the public figure for being her 'brave advocacy'.
