Jason Biggs was just 19 when he starred in American Pie, a role that would turn him into one of the most sought-after stars of the early 00s.
Unfortunately for the actor, however, the colossal high sparked by his overnight success left Biggs with no desire to come down, and within a matter of years, he'd developed an extreme substance addiction.
So much so, that out of sheer desperation on one pain-staking occasion, he voluntarily snorted cocaine directly out of a trash can.
Sitting down on the Well with Arielle Lorre podcast this week, 47-year-old Biggs - who has been clean since 2017 - reflected on his lowest moments, whilst revealing how he was finally able to overcome his dependency on drugs.

Looking back on his first taste of fame, the actor claimed he had 'money in the bank, coke in my pocket and nobody saying no to me'.

"It was [amazing] but I was also aware of crazy that was," Biggs admitted. "I knew when I needed to call the coke dealer because I was gonna drink too much, and how much Ambien to take or benzos to take based on how much coke I'd had so I'd come down but hopefully not die."
By his own admission, in 2008 - the year that Biggs married his The Escorts co-star Jenny Mollen - it wasn't uncommon for the New Jersey star to black out during drug-fuelled benders, which he'd then attempt to hide from his other-half.

"I was drinking a lot by myself and using a lot by myself and not telling my wife," the father-of-two confessed. "I took advantage of her... I felt like I was able to put things past her and I did."
One particularly disturbing incident that he kept from his wife, saw Biggs sniffing a line of cocaine from a garbage bag. He'd thrown out the bag earlier that day in a bid to quit his dangerous habit, but his addiction ultimately got the better of him.
Fifteen minutes later, he fished it out of the trash before snorting another line in an incident that occurred twice in the same evening.

"I went outside and I climbed into the bin and got the bag of coke out and went upstairs and did another line," Biggs went on to explain. "I was like, ‘What the f— am I doing? This is absolutely insane'."
He also recalled getting into his car and driving to the random house of a stranger within the area, dumping the bag inside their garbage as a third attempt, only to return to the location minutes later, and finishing off his stash.
"I could've just easily opened the baggie and dumped it down the toilet, but I didn't," Biggs confessed. "I knew I was gonna finish that bag the moment I got it, but I kept playing this game with myself."
Thankfully, however, it's been eight years since the SAG-winning actor was able to kick his addiction to the kerb.

In 2018, he celebrated one year clean in an emotional post that read: "I first tried to get sober over 5 years ago, when the weight of my obsession with booze and drugs became too heavy for me to handle.
"Turns out this s**t is hard. After some fits and starts, I’ve managed to put together one year of sobriety. I’m as proud of it as anything in my life."
Biggs added at the time: "If you’re struggling, know there’s help. Don’t be ashamed. We can do this."
