A body language expert has weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's viral appearance at an ice hockey game over the weekend, comparing them to fellow royal couple William and Kate.

Over the weekend, Harry and Meghan headed to the Invictus Games opening ceremony to celebrate the start of the seventh international multi-sport event which was founded by the prince himself in 2014.

The event was held at Vancouver's BC Place Stadium with over 500 competitors from 23 nations taking part in the games as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could be seen in an affectionate embrace.

A body language expert has since given their take on one interaction which took place during an ice hockey game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday (9 February), opening up about the 'tell-tale signs' that 'prove' Meghan's real feelings towards Harry.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, body language expert, Darren Stanton, told Tyla that Harry and Meghan 'appear to be stronger than ever'.

He explained: "I don’t think I have seen such strong public displays of affection between Meghan and Harry in quite some time. These images take you back to the start of their relationship. They appear to be stronger than ever.

"You see a lot of reciprocal gestures of love - prolonged eye contact, eye gazing, and genuine smiles. It appears that they are both in their own little bubble, which is a sure fire sign that people are really in love."

Darren added that such interactions are 'very reminiscent of what we see with Kate and William', adding: "They still look to be a very strong couple."

The expert also noted that Meghan's hug around Harry's arm and the 'genuine smile on both their faces' shows she is 'overjoyed to be available to support him during his time there'.

"Their physical closeness suggests that they are fully in support of each other," Darren noted. "They are in town for the Invictus Games, which is Harry’s baby, and she is clearly very supportive of that.

"You can see from Meghan’s interactions that she’s happy to see him in his element."

Harry delivered a powerful speech at the opening ceremony which featured a star-studded line-up of performers, including Katy Perry, Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Nelly Furtado.

He said: "At this moment when there is no shortage of crises, no absence of uncertainty, no lack of weak moral character in the world, the values you embody, the way you carry yourselves, not only at the Invictus Games, but each and every day.

"Your courage, your resilience, your humanity illuminate a path forward for us all. And for that, we thank you."
