George Clooney says he's 'embarrassed' by wife Amal's red carpet looks

George Clooney says he's 'embarrassed' by wife Amal's red carpet looks

The A-lister opened up about his wife's fashion statements

George and Amal Clooney are, without a doubt, one of the most-adored power couples out there.

The Hollywood A-lister and the human rights barrister first tied the knot back in 2014 and, since then, the pair have been providing us with couple's outfit inspo galore.

However, the Ocean's 11 star has since opened up about exactly why he's so 'embarrassed' by Amal's red carpet looks.

At the start of this week (11 December), George, 62, spoke to Entertainment Tonight during the Los Angeles premiere of his new film, The Boys in the Boat, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Directed by George, the biographical sports drama's official premise reads: "During the height of the Great Depression, members of the rowing team at the University of Washington get thrust into the spotlight as they compete for gold at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin."

During the premiere, Amal, 45, wore a beautiful Atelier Versace bright yellow gown complete with some dazzling Cartier jewels.

George gushed: "She cleans up.

"I'm always embarrassed because I'm wearing something that I've worn, like, 1,000 times."

He joked that he also feels 'slighted' by the attention Amal receives during big public events, adding: "My entire career has been reduced to a plus-one now."

The star went on to reveal: "I did one of those Women in Film things a couple years ago, and I had to introduce myself as 'Amal Clooney's husband' because, honestly, I was dead otherwise."

George and Amal are parents to their six-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, who were welcomed to the world back in June of 2017.

The Oscar-award-winning actor also said the twins visited him on the set of the film, telling the outlet: "Yeah, the kids came to visit. They think that all I do is play in the water.

"I did a movie a couple years ago called The Midnight Sky, and I had to shoot stuff in a tank and they came to visit and I'm in clothes, but I'm in a tank. So whenever I go to work, they think I'm swimming."

Adorable.

Previously speaking about fatherhood to The Hollywood Reporter, he said becoming a parent was 'wild'.

"You know, everything is conceptual until it’s real," George went on. "It’s like, 'Yeah, we’re going to be parents, yeah.' And all of a sudden, you go: 'Holy s**t. I’m a parent!'"

Talking about his kids, the actor added: "I want them to be happy. I want them to have a sense of humour. I want them to be interested in things.

"I want them to be compassionate about other people’s plights. Because that’s the thing, you know? You have to have some sort of empathy."
