Elton John has revealed the A-List celebrity he always FaceTimes and he even shared what they chat about.

The legendary Rocket Man singer, 77, has made a number of celebrity pals over the years but one of his most recent friendships has a heartwarming backstory.

John is known for supporting newcomers in the music scene, especially those who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community. After retiring from touring in July 2023, the 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' hit-maker still performs the occasional show, including one upcoming performance later this month with Brandi Carlile.

He’s also up to speed with the latest trending artists and has found the time to attend the concerts of emerging artists. Providing a platform for these singers has become something the five-time Grammy winner now does all the time.

One chart-topping artist you’ve definitely heard of unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year is Chappell Roan, and John revealed that the two are now great friends.

How close are they, you ask? They speak on FaceTime all the time.

“I first heard of Pink Pony Club and I played it on my [Apple Music show] Rocket Hour about three years ago,” he told online publication Them.

"Then I started to FaceTime her personally and just fell in love with her. I loved who she was, what she talked about, how brave she was, her story. I love her bravery and the fact she’s not scared to speak out and she won’t do something if she doesn’t want to.”

“It is not all about doing this and doing that and going where you’re supposed to. If you haven’t got the energy and it is taking your creative juices away, don’t do it. She’s not afraid to say that, and I love her for that,” he continued.

The 27-year-old Good Luck Babe singer spoke out in support of emerging artists during her acceptance speech for Best New Artist at the Grammys this year and simultaneously called out the music industry.

John also revealed some tidbits about their FaceTime chats. “I have to say, when I’m FaceTiming her, I’m a bit in awe of her because I think she’s so great. And I’m just there to say, ‘Listen, if anything happens and you’re not sure about it, just FaceTime me or email me'. I’m just there for her. She’s doing very well,” he revealed.

The two musicians recently took to the stage together at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Academy Awards viewing party on 2 March.

John shared snaps and clips from the evening on Instagram and together they sang Roan’s UK Singles Chart topper Pink Pony Club and John’s hit Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.

We love this friendship!
