Ellen Degeneres 'returning' to US despite vowing to never come back after fleeing over one thing

The talk-show host moved to the Cotswolds in Southeast England in November 2024, but reportedly has plans to return to her home-country

It's been just over a year since she fled her home-country to set up shop in the UK, but Ellen Degeneres is already considering a relocation back to the States, insiders have claimed.

In November 2024, the television presenter left America with her wife, Portia de Rossi, heading over 3,000 miles east.

Apparently, the couple had planned to split there time between California and the Cotswolds, before Republican frontman Trump was controversially re-elected to the presidential position the same month.

Given the politician's famously right-wing stance on issues like gender and gay rights, the duo quickly made their emigration permanent.

Confirming rumours that the result of the election had spurred the decision, Degeneres told British broadcaster Richard Bacon back in July: "We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in'.

"And we're like, 'We're staying here'."

The couple even flew De Rossi's famous horses across the Atlantic.

"When we decided to live here full-time, we knew that Portia couldn't live without her horses," Degeneres continued. "We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them," DeGeneres said about their choice of home."

As we say, however, the Finding Nemo star's stint in the Great British countryside could prove relatively short-lived, amid reports that the home she and De Rossi purchased as an initial base has been surrounded by floodwater.

According to Realtor, the sprawling farmhouse was listed by the couple five months ago for $30 million - £10m more than they purchased it for in June of last year, after which they carried out an elaborate renovation.

Degeneres and De Rossi, meanwhile, moved into a glass-walled mansion in the same star-studded area of the UK - where the likes of Kourtney Kardashian was spotted recently, and the Beckham's own a property.

Sadly, however, the couple are said to have become bogged down - literally - by their first purchase, which has reportedly been plagued by extreme flooding for the last year.

So much so, that the hassle is said to be pushing the pair into thinking of warmer climates once again.

"Ellen was adamant that she and Portia were going to stay in the UK while Trump was in the White House," an insider told The Mail this week. "But evidently she's changed her mind somewhat."

The same source continued: "She's been telling friends they are coming home soon because they miss them and can't take the winters over there, and Portia wants to act again.

"They will be here for the holidays and longer by the sound of it."
