Denise Van Outen’s former partner Eddie Boxshall appears to have made a subtle dig at his ex, having now found love with a new relationship.

Van Outen, 49, announced her split from Boxshall in January last year after seven years together, saying in a statement: "Over the past couple of months, there has been much speculation regarding my relationship with Eddie.

"It saddens me to confirm that we are no longer a couple. I had to make the difficult decision not to continue in our relationship. I will always treasure the good times we spent together, and the memories made.

“We ask that you please respect our privacy at this time, especially for our children."

Boxshall later admitted he had been messaging a number of other women, telling The Sun he ‘deeply’ regretted what he did.

The pair used to regularly appear on Celebrity Gogglebox together.

Explaining how he had exchanged ‘colourful’ texts with one woman called Tracy, he said: “She told me she liked me, and I replied that I liked her too.

“And I engaged in the conversation. It was innuendos, then they got stronger as the night went on. I wasn’t blind drunk — I knew what I was doing, and I knew it was wrong, but I went with it.”

Boxshall is now in a relationship with a new woman, having posted a photo of the two together on Instagram to mark the bank holiday weekend.

"Bank holiday", he wrote, adding a white love heart emoji and the hashtags #shhhthereyougo #idontdohating #thankstothenicepeople #happy.

One person commented: “Are you having a pop at Denise there, that's low considering you were going behind her back.”

While someone else wrote: "Anyone going to state the obvious?" to which Boxshall replied: "Yeah, I'm happier than I've ever been... Well spotted."

Van Outen, who has also since found love with new partner Jimmy Barba, 55, who she said is ‘such a good energy’.

Speaking to The Sun, she gushed: "Honestly, I feel like I’m in a nice, happy, good place. I wouldn’t change anything.

“And there were so many positives that came out of it.

“I reconnected with a lot of close friends. They reached out to me, which is lovely.

"You get caught up in life when you’re in a relationship and especially when you’re blending families [Eddie has Jordan, 25, and Leah, 23, from a previous relationship, while Denise has 12-year-old Betsy with ex-husband Lee Mead] and you’ve got the kids to consider. So you don’t always make time for your friends.”

She added: “Everything that happened took all my friendships to another level.

"Fearne Cotton was constantly checking in with me. She’s such a good soul. I was a bit like: ‘I’ll deal with it on my own,’ because I don’t want to be a burden, but then it got to a point where I thought: ‘No, actually I do need to be a bit vulnerable.’

“I’ve got myself into therapy, too, which was really good. It’s made me realise I’m very much a people-pleaser. I don’t like confrontation or arguments, but that makes me vulnerable as a person. So now I’m learning to have boundaries.”
