People have been gushing over Happy Valley’s 'well-deserved' win

Fans have hailed Happy Valley’s Rhys Connah for his ‘brilliant’ acceptance speech after the drama won Memorable Moment at the TV BAFTAs this evening (12 May).

The 19-year-old actor, who has played Ryan Cawood since he was a youngster, took to the stage alone at London's Royal Festival Hall to pick up the award and provided viewers with a very sweet moment.

One X user penned: "So bloody happy #HappyValley won well deserved #BAFTATVAwards x."

A second gushed: "A BAFTA for Happy Valley, absolutely deserved."

"Thank God Happy Valley, best of British #BAFTATVAwards," quipped a third, while a fourth chimed in: "Happy Valley should win every category #BAFTATVAwards."

A fifth praised: "That young man from Happy Valley just nailed his speech on the BAFTAs when he had to go up to accept it alone. #BAFTAS."
