Ariana Grande fans shocked as her ‘natural’ voice surfaces mid-interview

Ariana Grande fans have been pretty shocked after her 'natural' voice surfaced mid-interview.

Now, the 30-year-old 'thank u, next' singer's voice has been a pretty contentious topic for quite some time now - especially following her role as Glinda the Good Witch in the film version of the musical Wicked.

And the latest buzz online surrounding the way Ariana talks comes after a clip of her speaking on Penn Badgley's Podcrushed podcast started doing the rounds on social media.

See if the below voice change gives you whiplash:

During the second part of the interview, which dropped yesterday (17 June), the hit-maker could be seen joking that she felt 'like Austin Powers being unfrozen' at the end of a ten day stint 'literally living' in the recording studio.

"That's the only thing I thought of," she said in a noticeably deeper tone of voice than her other more recent public speaking appearances.

However, she then appeared to immediately switch up her voice completely to a much higher pitch when asked if she was releasing more songs following her Eternal Sunshine album which was released back in March.

She shared: "Yeah, I've been writing a lot. Maybe there's some more. I would like to do a deluxe version at some point."

Fans were quick to pick up on the apparent shift in pitch with many rushing to X to share their thoughts on the matter.

One X user penned: "Just heard Ariana Grande real voice I’m finna play this on my speaker."

"LMGOAOSOAO WWAIT WHY SHE ACTING LIKE KAT," hit out a second, referencing the character Ariana once played on Nickelodeon's Victorious, Cat Valentine.

A third piped up: "This voice change is sending me regular Ariana was coming out for a second."

A fourth speculated: "A combination of her interview voice and her Glinda voice, but whenever she’s geeking and really laughing at smt, the real voice has no choice but to come out."

"Me when I have to use my customer service voice," joked a fifth.

Another wondered: "I like her og voice! Why does she do that?"

Others, however, rushed in to defend the 'yes, and?' star with one X user writing: "She’s always had a higher voice for interviews but the past couple years sounds different cause of her Glinda voice training. Her natural voice comes out often, but on camera, she just automatically eases into that voice ig."

A second explained: "I seen a couple people call it weird. Y'all acting like y'all's voices don’t change in certain spaces and settings.

"Her interview voice is no different, especially cause singers use to to preserve their vocals. Don’t bring no dumb s**t over here."

And a final fan resolved: "It's time people realize she is a VOCALIST ofc she'll have multiple voices."
