Fans of First Dates have been left 'in bits' by a heartwarming story about a woman who survived an acid attack and found love on the programme.

In the Valentine's Day special that aired on Thursday night, viewers were enthralled by the story of part time model Sophie Hall, 23, who hit it off with Bailey, 24, while enjoying a romantic meal.

The couple even ended up revealing intimate details about their lives to each other.

"I've only ever had one boyfriend," Sophie revealed behind the scenes. "but I would like to have somebody with me, to face challenges with."

When Sophie started telling Bailey about her experience in the world of beauty pageants, she also opened up about the horrific acid attack she was caught up in in 2017.

"A year ago, I was caught up in the crossfire of an acid attack in a nightclub in London," she told Bailey. "I was out dancing and got it in my face and body."

"I could smell burning. I started to think 'I really hope that's not acid. Please don't be.' But it was."

"All I could hear was people going 'Oh my God, what's on her face?' And I couldn't see it. I hadn't seen it myself. And I could tell that they were talking about me."

Sophie added that the pain she felt at the time was indescribable and that the past year had been the "most horrific year" as she showed pictures of how her face looked on her phone.

"Seeing that for the first time in the mirror was the hardest thing I had to go through, for sure.

"I want to do something really positive now so I ended up entering Miss England for charity."

Sophie was caught up in the attack during the Easter weekend when TOWIE star Ferne McCann's ex Arthur Collins threw acid over her and 21 other people in an east London nightclub.

Sophie was left with burns to her face and body and spent 10 months going to hospital every single week.

As she revealed her story, Bailey showed his support telling her she should be proud of all that she had achieved.

He told her, "I think what's happened and where you've come from, it's really cool."

"You should definitely be proud."

And viewers loved their onscreen chemistry, taking to Twitter to gush about the cute couple.

While Bailey agreed: "As far as first dates for, I think this is probably the best one I could ever have imagined."
