This Morning was getting into the festive spirit today to mark the first day of December.

But the Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby fronted show left a rather bitter taste in some people's mouths as it presented its 'Christmas gift guide', which many claimed was completely "out of touch".

Sourced by model Lisa Snowdown, the TV segment offered suggestions for everything from stylish PJs to stocking fillers to gift to friends and loved ones.

But it was the price point that wound some people up, with the most expensive gift suggestion coming in at £150 (for a coat) and even the cheaper items breaking the bank, at £35 for a pair of socks.

Other goods on offer during the segment included an £89 pyjama set, a £46 hot water bottle and a £42 yoga mat.

"These **** are so out of touch with reality it's staggering. Sure I'll just spend all my Universal Credit on a pair of f*cking pyjamas. #ThisMorning," one viewer wrote after watching the suggestions.

While another angrily wrote: "#ThisMorning Thirty five quid for a pair of socks...forty six quid for a hot water bottle cover...producers again showing not just a lack of understanding for their audience but an actual contempt for viewers..."

"#ThisMorning £20 for wrapping paper!! I'm gonna have a f*ckin meltdown, do people actually buy this sh*t!!," a third commented.

As a fourth exclaimed that the show much be "taking the p*ss," as a fifth chipped in: "There's people out there that have lost their jobs yet here they are showing £89 pjs #ThisMorning," alongside a shrugging emoji.

In other, slightly lighter This Morning related news, James Martin had a bit of a telly blunder on Monday when his Cauliflower soup exploded everywhere.

The pro chef, 48, was on the popular ITV programme alongside hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby making a tasty winter Cauliflower soup, complete with some delicious cheese straws.

But things just weren't going his way as he demonstrated his recipe in the This Morning kitchen, seeing his soup boil over while it was on the hob.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, the soup then proceeded to explode out the blender after the lid came flying off - prompting one of Holly and Phil's legendary giggling fits.

Whoops!
