The Witches Remake With Anne Hathaway Is Out In The UK On Monday

Warner Bros' reboot of The Witches will drop this Monday.

The movie, which is a remake of the 1990 Roald Dahl dark fantasy, is finally available to watch in the UK, and, honestly, we cannot wait to watch.

In it, we see Anne Hathaway star as the Grand High Witch - a role made iconic by Anjelica Huston in the original 1990 film. Meanwhile, Octavia Spencer is starring alongside her as the doting grandma of a young boy who discovers the supernatural witches.

The trailer also gives us a first look at Stanley Tucci - Hathaway's former Devil Wear's Prada co-star - as the hotel manager who unwittingly hosts the witches' convention.

Newcomer Jahzir Bruno will appear as the young boy lead (named Luke in the original movie) with comedian Chris Rock voicing him as an adult. Plus, Codie-Lei Eastick plays Bruno Jenkins.

The movie is directed by Forrest Gump and Cast Away director Robert Zemeckis, while he and Kenya Barris wrote the script.

Jack Rapke, Alfonso Cuaron and Guillermo del Toro also feature as the film's producers.

The Witches was available to view a little earlier in the US, landing on HBO Max on the 22nd October.

But now UK viewers are able to get in on the action, too, as its available to rent on Premium Video On Demand (PVOD) - and just in time for Halloween, too!

Famously, Dahl famously called the original movie "utterly appalling" - so Zemeckis certainly had a lot of pressure to deliver.

The dark fantasy, based on the children's book of the same name, tells the story of evil witches who masquerade as ordinary women and kill children.

It follows Bruno's character as he heads to live with his beloved grandmother in Demopolis, the rural town of Alabama.

There, they come across three "deceptively glamorous but thoroughly diabolical witches," but the boy's grandma whisks him to safety to a seaside resort.

However, things backfire when their trip coincides with a gathering of undercover witches from around the world. Really, your luck can't get much worse than that, can it?!

Led by the Grand High Witch, who is there attempting to carry out her "nefarious plans", the witches then set their sites on the boy.
