It's official. You're not the only one binging The Queen's Gambit.

In fact, a record breaking 62 million people have been watching the Anya Taylor-Joy fronted series since it landed on Netflix in October.

The streamer announced the news in a tweet on Monday, writing: "A record-setting 62 million households chose to watch The Queen's Gambit in its first 28 days, making it Netflix's biggest scripted limited series to date."

And it's hardly surprising, seeing as fans flocked to brand the show the "best of 2020" when it launched, with many even watching it in one sitting.

In case you're in the minority who hasn't yet seen the limited series, it follows young chess prodigy Beth Harmon (Anya Taylor-Joy) from the age of nine to 22 during her quest to become the world's greatest chess player.

Based on a 1983 novel of the same name by Walter Tevis, the Netflix hit also chronicles Beth's struggle with an addiction to tranquillisers.

"In a 1950s orphanage," the show's synopsis reads, "a young girl reveals an astonishing talent for chess and begins an unlikely journey to stardom while grappling with addiction.

"Haunted by her personal demons and fuelled by a cocktail of narcotics and obsession, Beth transforms into an impressively skilled and glamorous outcast while determined to conquer the traditional boundaries established in the male-dominated world of competitive chess."

Alongside Anya, the dark coming of age story (which is based on the novel by Walter Tevis) also stars Love Actually's Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Marielle Heller, Moses Ingram, Harry Melling and Bill Camp.

And as well as the impressive cast, the series also has a talented team of creators behind it too, including two-time Academy Award nominee and Godless showrunner, Scott Frank.

The landmark 62 million households puts the limited series just 2 million apart from Stranger Things 3, which racked up 64 million household views.

The site's most popular original movie, Extraction, bagged a reported 99 million viewers in a month, also making it a record breaker.

The show landed in the Top 10 list in 91 countries and was the number one choice in 63 countries around the globe.

Plus, the book that the series was based on has skyrocketed into New York Times bestseller list a whole 37 years after it was published.

And an even more impressive trend that has resulted from the show comes as Google searches for 'How To Play Chess' have also skyrocketed to a nine-year high.

We guess we're not the only ones seriously hooked on this show.
