Channel 5 has unveiled the main love interest for the The Bachelor UK as personal trainer Alex Marks.

Fronted by Mark Wright of The Only Way Is Essex fame, the show is making a return to British television after a six year-long hiatus. it was reportedly cancelled last time around due to show ratings.

The Bachelor originally came to the UK off the back of the popularity of the original US version in 2003, running for just a couple of seasons on BBC Three up until 2005.

Then in 2011, the reality dating series made a return on Channel 5 with Welsh rugby player Gavin Henson and Made In Chelsea's Spencer Matthews in 2012.

And now Channel 5 is officially bringing back The Bachelor, although the broadcaster has dropped its celeb love interests this time around.

Instead, the broadcaster has named personal trainer Alex from London as the central suitor looking for love in the next season.

And here is what you need to know about Alex:

  • He is 31 years old, 6ft6 and the youngest of three brothers
  • Alex was raised in Kent but lives in London
  • He's super close with his family and his parent's relationship is something he aspires to have himself
  • Although he was sports captain and deputy head boy, school life wasn't always easy for him
  • He now owns a personal training studio in South London which specialises in fitness for pregnant and new mums
  • After focusing on making his business a success, Alex is now ready to settle down and start a family

Channel 5 is promising a 10-part series that will follow a similar, if not exactly the same, format as the previous US and UK versions.

But if you are not familiar with how it all goes down, then let yourself be enlightened. A single man, in this case Alex, begins with a pool of romantic interests.

He needs to narrow down the 17 women to one who he would marry. At the end of each episode, the women are given roses, and whoever doesn't get one is booted from the show.
