Sky Atlantic is set to release a new drama later this year, and it's definitely one to look out for if you're a Peaky Blinders fan.

Perry Mason is set in Los Angeles in 1932, during the Great Depression. It focuses on the American fictional character Perry Mason (created by author, Erle Stanley Gardener) who is a criminal defence lawyer.

Also available on HBO in the US, Emmy Award winning actor Matthew Rhys (The Americans) takes on the role of Perry, who is known for habitually investigating his own cases.

It's 1932 and Los Angeles is booming, while the rest of the country recovering from the Great Depression.

Despite the good spirits across LA, a case of a kidnapping gone wrong leads to Perry unveiling the truth behind the horrific crime - which has dramatic consequences to the city.

The series is based on the characters by Erle Stanley Gardner and alongside Matthew Rhys, also stars John Lithgow (The Crown), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), Juliet Rylance (American Gothic), Chris Chalk (Gotham) and Shea Whigham (Homecoming, Narcos).

Sky Atlantic and HBO have also released a gripping trailer for the new series. In the teaser clip, Perry can be heard saying: "I don't like it here, everybody's up to something, hiding something, everybody's got an angle. And everybody, is guilty.

"[...] The way I see it, there's what's legal and there's what's right."

Sounds juicy.

The first episode of the series will be airing on Sky Atlantic on 22nd June, airing in the US the day before.
