It's on then it's off, then it's on and then it's off again - we can't keep up with the Gavin and Stacey rollercoaster of announcements right now.

However two weeks after James Corden hinted that the much-loved series will be making a comeback for one more installment, Larry Lamb has said it's likely we'll get more episodes of our favourite comedy, so we've got everything crossed for the return of Gav, Stace, Nessa, Smithy and co.

Last year's Christmas special was one of the most-watched scripted series of the 2010s, viewed by a whopping 17.1 million people, and according to Larry (who plays Mick Shipman), the 2019 episode might not be the last.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he said: "After how well the Christmas special went down last year, it's highly unlikely there won't be more.

"We're all ready, but when it'll be, that's up to James [Corden], Ruth Jones and the BBC. I just hope they knock another one out before I'm dead. That or they can start at the graveside."

Larry's comments came after James Corden told the Metro he's holding out hopes for one last episode, saying: "I don't know, is the answer. I honestly don't," he said. "We're all on a WhatsApp text group.

"All of us... and Matt [Horne] and Jo [Page] did a special radio show for BBC Wales the other day that will go out on Christmas. And we all contributed to that somewhat."

Adding that he and Ruth were "always talking" he went on: "I hope so much we do it. The next one will really be the last, final part."

However the actor did explain that 2020 would have been too stressful a year to pen the show.

"So we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. But I promise you, we won't lead you over that bridge unless we think it will be worth the journey," he said.

Ever since the hit British sitcom - which ran for three seasons between 2007 and 2010 - returned at Christmas for a one-off special on BBC One, there has been chatter about what's next for the show.

We've got everything crossed for a 2020 reunion!
