Everything We Know About The 'Friends' Reunion As It Draws Closer

A Friends reunion is set to be in the works and it's probably the best news of 2020 yet.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc are reportedly getting together for a one-hour special 'reunion interview' that could be hosted by Ellen DeGeneres.

We have to say it. Could we *be* any more excited? Literally not an ounce.

Obviously we have combed through every single detail meticulously - here's everything we know so far...

What do we know about the Friends reunion?

While nothing has officially been confirmed, according to Deadline, all six stars are on board for the reunion, which is set to air in line with the launch of HBO Max.

The network has spent around £360 million on rights to the sitcom - which ended in 2004 - and much to Friends fans' joy, users will have unrivalled access to the comedy's 10 series.

Co-creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane are both expected to be on board for what is being described as an "unscripted reunion".

However, it's worth noting the pair have already shut down rumours back in September. Speaking at the Tribeca TV Festival last year, Kauffman said: "We will not be doing a reunion show, we will not be doing a reboot [...] The show was about that time in life when friends are your family."

Crane added: "We did the show we wanted to do. We got it right, and we put a bow on it."

Among the speculation, it's been reported that the cast have in fact reached a deal with HBO - in which each they will reportedly be paid between £2.5-3.3 million. However, the network told Fox News that the reports are "speculation and not confirmed".

*But* speaking about the rumours last month, HBO Max's Chief Creative Officer Kevin Reilly said: "There is interest all around, and yet we can't get the interests all alighted to push the button on it. Today it's just maybe."

Maybe is better than no, right?

What has the cast said about a reunion?

OK, so it's *not* been confirmed, but we can't ignore all the hints the cast have been dropping recently.

Back in October, Jen, 50, had tongues wagging after she first sparked rumours when chatting to Ellen.

"Listen, we would love for there to be something but we don't know what that something is," she said.

"We're working on something."

But that's not all. She also told Entertainment Tonight: "We are always trying to think of something to do, but we have to figure out what the right thing is [...] But we will."

Jen's comments are perhaps the biggest nod to some kind of reunion happening. But the claims have also been reinforced by the other Friends stars, including the countless throwback photos heading our way from Courteney Cox's Instagram.

And is it a coincidence that the throwback snaps have ramped up a notch in recent months? We think not.

In October, Courteney posted a snap with Jen and Matt - and naturally, fans lost it.

But things *really* stared to go wild when Jen posted a selfie with the whole cast - who appeared to be at a dinner together - around the same time.

Friends fans were ecstatic, but the reunions just kept coming. Weeks later, Courteney, 55, shared a cute snap with on-screen husband Matthew, captioned: "Guess who I had lunch with today... I KNOW!! Could I BE any happier?"

We honestly couldn't love her more.

And just a few weeks ago, the actress shared the ultimate throwback of the cast's "last supper"

"'The Last Supper' before taping 'The Last One' on Jan 23, 2004," she captioned the image, which pictured all six pals enjoying a farewell dinner.

It's not just the female cast dropping hints. It was a tense moment earlier in the week when Matthew Perry took to Twitter to announce "something big was coming".

Surely, it could only be a Friends reunion?

Well, it seems the 'big news' was just that the 50-year-old was joining Instagram - but with all the speculation, we're not *entirely* sure the tweet didn't have another meaning.

Over on Instagram, Lisa, Courteney and Jen gave us all what we wanted by taking to Matthew's comments to show him some love.

Lisa wrote: "Finally!! Yay!! Can't believe my eyes MY EYES. Welcome to Instagram @mattyperry4. Friends for life."

And we honestly can *only* hear Phoebe saying this.

Meanwhile, Jen quipped: "Yes Matty! Could you TAKE any longer?"

Surely all this interaction means SOMETHING?

When is the Friends reunion happening?

With reports unconfirmed, it's unknown when the special could air, but it's expected that if the reports are true, it will be this year.

We could SO easily freak out right now...
