The sequel sees Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) beginning an all-new adventure that takes him and his trusted confidante (Arsenio Hall) back to where it all began... Queens, New York City to find his son, played by comedian Jermain Fowler, who did not know existed.
Stars from the 1988 smash hit comedy including James Earl Jones as Akeem's father, Shari Headley as Akeem's American wife, John Amos and Louie Anderson will reprise their roles alongside Eddie and Arsenio.
There are also a bunch of exciting new additions to the ensemble cast. KiKi Lane, Leslie Jones, Teyana Taylor, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, Tracy Morgan, Nomzamo Mbatha and Wesley Snipes will all make appearances.
"This is the perfect time to return to Zamunda because it's been a while since we've had a great comedy that everybody can enjoy," says Murphy.
He adds: "Zamunda is a very funny place, and the world needs that right now."
Originally set for a theatrical release, Coming 2 America will be skipping cinemas and will head straight for Amazon Prime Video. It will launch on 5 March 2021 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Eddie is excited for audiences to see what new cast members, including his own daughter Bella Murphy, bring to the film.
He said: "What I'm most excited about the audience seeing is how amazing this movie is.
"We have incredible new cast members like Wesley Snipes, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Jones, Jermaine Fowler, KiKi Layne and my own daughter, Bella Murphy, among others, who are all so funny and really brought their A-game. It's just a great picture and I'm excited to have audiences see it."
Coming 2 America will debut on Amazon Prime Video on 5 March, 2021.
