Michelle Keegan has clapped back at sexist questions about when she will have a baby in a new interview with Women's Health UK.

The former Coronation Street star, 33, has been married to TOWIE frontman Mark Wright for five years, with many interviewers asking Michelle when she plans to expand her brood.

However, Michelle believes that line of questioning is inherently sexist, adding that she doesn't believe Mark gets asked the same baby questions.

"I do think it's different for a woman. It shouldn't be, but it is," she explained. "I get asked about children whereas Mark wouldn't, for example. Why haven't I had a child?

"When am I going to have a chid? I don't know what they want me to say. I don't know what the right or wrong answer is."

Mark, also 33, and Michelle's marriage has been under constant scrutiny after they tied the knot in 2015.

The pair were forced to spend a lot of time apart for some years as Michelle travelled to South Africa to film Our Girl, while Mark was based Stateside where he worked as a celebrity interviewer.

Now both based in Essex, Michelle has explained she has chosen to keep her relationship with Mark away from prying eyes.

"A lot of things in my life are out of my control, but one thing I do have control over is my social media and I like to try and keep some memories private," she said.

Over the years we've opened ourselves up to a lot of criticism, so it's nice to have something just for us. I don't want to feed the stories anymore. Turning 30 really changed my perspective on things - I've grown as a person and I'm a lot more confident now."

The newfound confidence may stem from her focus on fitness - but she admitted she was not always such a big fan of the gym.

"I hated PE at school," she said.

"I'd pretend I'd forgotten my kit because I used to get so embarrassed about always coming last in things. In netball, no one threw me the ball because they knew I couldn't catch it.

"[Now] I love how the gym makes me feel.

"Fitness and eating healthily is my lifestyle now."
