John Travolta Tried To Give Taylor Swift's VMA To The Wrong Person

The 65-year-old actor seemed to know something was going to happen, even referencing his 2014 Oscars gaff beforehand...

She's one of the most famous artists on the planet, but that doesn't mean everyone is going to recognise Taylor Swift.

Just tell John Travolta who tried to give her award to the wrong person at last night's MTV Video Music Awards.

The 65-year-old actor was presenting the Video of the Year award alongside Queen Latifa at last night's ceremony when the 29-year-old singer's 'You Need To Calm Down' won the gong.

Stars from the video were invited to join the presenters on stage - one such star being drag queen Jade Jolie, alumni of RuPaul's Drag Race, who bears such a resemblance to Taylor in drag she asked her to play her in the video.

So it's fairly understandable that the Grease star tried to hand the award to Jade, all while Taylor wasn't even on stage yet. Oh John!

But it could have been far more awkward: both Jade and John laughed off in good humour.

Poor John hasn't had much luck at these award ceremonies has he? Who can forget the 2014 Oscars when he tried to introduce Idina Menzel and ended up coming out with 'Adele Dazeem'.

John clearly had a premonition something would go wrong, even taking moment to reference his famous gaff on stage before. Handing Latifa the envelope before, he said: "You'd better do it because I'll mispronounce sh*t and f*ck it up."

Once she finally got her gong, Taylor used her time on stage to call out the White House for their lack of acknowledgement of LGBTQ rights.

Her winning video, which is themed on LGBTQ pride, ends with a petition for supporters to sign.

"It now has half a million signatures, which is five times the amount that it would need to warrant a response from the White House," she said, gesturing her watch as if checking on the time.

YES Taylor.
