Jessie J has opened up about her Christmas health scare.

The Do It Like A Dude singer, 32, suddenly went "completely deaf" in one ear and was left unable to balance on Christmas Eve.

The star, who is currently living Stateside, was then rushed to hospital, where she was diagnosed with the rare Meniere's Syndrome.

In a post to her 9.4 million Instagram followers, Jessie said: "I woke up and felt like I was completely deaf in my right ear, couldn't walk in a straight line

"Basically I got told I had Meniere's syndrome. I know that a lot of people suffer from it and I've actually had a lot of people reach out to me and give me great advice, so I've just been laying low in silence. Now's the first time I've been able to sing and bear it."

Meniere's syndrome is a disorder of your inner ear, which can lead to hearing loss and vertigo, with symptoms including dizziness and nausea. It tends to occur in one ear.

The chronic condition usually affects young adults, and symptoms can be relieved through various treatments in order for sufferers to continue their lives unimpeded.

"I am now watching Queen's Gambit with my finger in my ear. I've done the first episode 4 times because I [have] zero focus and my ear sounds like someone crawled in and turned a hair dryer on," Jessie later told fans.

"It could be way worse, it is what it is. I'm super-grateful for my health. It just threw me off. But I'm glad I went early and they worked out what it was real quick and I got put on the right medicine so I feel a lot better today."

Jessie had a rather unusual Christmas this year, with The Voice judge in California for work purposes for the big day.

She sent a message out to others who were facing a different festive season due to the coronavirus crisis.

"Sending LOVE to everyone who needs it, is or isn't alone. We all need some extra love. This Christmas might be a little off," she wrote.

"BUT one in a lifetime isn't bad when some people haven't had one good one in their lifetime."
