James 'Arg' Argent has revealed doctors warned him he could die if he catches Covid-19 due to his weight.

The former TOWIE star, 33, made the startling admission on Good Morning Britain as he spoke to hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

Watch the interview below.

Arg, who now weighs 27 stone (378 pounds, equivalent to 171kg) also revealed he is looking to get "life-saving" gastric surgery to help him tackle his eating disorders.

Expressing his concern about his weight gain during the coronavirus pandemic, Arg said: "It has been worrying and it has been difficult putting on so much weight. The fact that I've got so big.

"I'm currently at 27 stone, I've been speaking regularly at the doctors and nurses and they've been giving me advice.

"They're saying the size I am, it could be fatal. If I get Covid, I could be a goner."

Arg added that his weight is something he has struggled with for years, but is now looking at taking positive steps.

"I've been struggling with my weight since I was a teenager... the last 16 years I've found it almost impossible to have a medium," he said.

"It's a really serious operation - I haven't exactly decided which one it is going to be - a sleeve or a bypass.

"I have been through an awful lot, some people go through life plain sailing and other people find life a little bit difficult. I do believe that there's a light at the end of the tunnel."

Having previously shot to stardom as part of reality series The Only Way Is Essex, Arg was axed from the show in 2019.

He has since been in an on-off relationship with former co-star and meme queen Gemma Collins.

While the pair are currently "off", Arg has revealed the two are on better terms than they have been previously.

"We're not officially back together. It's impossible to be in a relationship with anyone," he explained.

"She's no longer blocked on my phone. We're friends at the moment and we have been in contact."
