Bridgerton fans have rushed to defend leading actress Simone Ashley after she refused to give an interview at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.

You can watch a clip below:

Simone, who starred as Kate Sharma in the second season of the popular Netflix show, was at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday (29 May) when Sky Sports presenter Martin Brundle approached her for a chat.

Martin was doing his grid walk at the F1 race when he saw Simone, and headed over asking: "Is this Simone?"

The actress appeared to quietly say hello, before a man next to her stepped in to explain: "She doesn’t want to do any TV."

"She doesn’t want to do any TV? Well, we’re kind of halfway there already," Martin responded.

"It’s so good to see her on the grid. I’m not going to push, but I’d like to have a chat with you."

The man appears to respond to Martin before he walks off, adding: "That’s fine, whatever."

Following the interaction, fans were quick to defend Simone, with one writing on Twitter: "Lol she can do whatever tf she wants to do. She doesn’t owe anyone anything."

Another said: "Yes she was free to say no, and walk away."

A third added: "But she was polite, said Hi and politely turned down an interview via her publicist for whatever reason and the reason doesn’t matter."

Another user commented: "She wasn’t rude. I saw her smile and acknowledge him and then someone tell him she wasn’t giving interviews. I don’t see her doing anything wrong just ridiculous."

A fifth said: "Celebrities are not allowed to go out and have their own fun now?? They’re human beings, not public property."

Simone starred in the second season of Bridgerton alongside Jonathan Bailey, who played Viscount Anthony Bridgerton.
