Most celebrities are pretty adept to dealing with outlandish rumours these days. From cheating controversies to friendship drama - many aren't too phased at the outlandish rumours circulating about their lives.

However, for Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause, there was one rumour that went a little too far.

The 40-year-old American actress, who's currently dating Australian drummer G Flip, took to Instagram to share her views on the bizarre rumour that is currently making the rounds.

The Selling Sunset star shut down all rumours via her Instagram story.

Screenshotting and uploading a news article to her story, the star confronted the rumour directly at the source.

The article itself had the headline 'Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause and non-binary Australian drummer G-Flip adopt adult lesbian daughter from Facebook marketplace.'

Clearly finding the whole ordeal hilarious, Stause wrote over the screenshot: "We are thrilled. Thank you for all the well wishes," with three laughing emojis to conclude.

The Selling Sunset star followed up the initial post with a second, further detailing the hilarity of the situation.

She revealed that the news article was a joke, created by comedian Grace Kuhlenschmidt: "The amount of people in the comments & replies to this that don't understand that it is a JOKE is actually startling."

"Sooo tempting to post some of the replies," she continued. "I am happy and can take a joke!"

The actress went on: "This comedian made me laugh with her post. But no guys, we did not adopt an adult for $36 on Facebook Marketplace. Lol."

The parody post certainly left many totally baffled, gaining over 10,000 likes and thousands of comments.

One Instagram user commented: "That certainly was a sentence."

"The amount of people that don’t get this is a joke makes this even funnier," wrote another.

Even G Flip chimed in on the joke: "We are so so thrilled, thank you so much x."

Stause has since furthered the bizarre banter, recently uploading a meme captioned: "Happy Mother’s Day to ALL of the mothers that are with us and to those that no longer are. Absolutely no matter how you got there."

The meme in question showed a picture of co-star, Maya Vander, looking particularly confused, with the text: "Me realizing how many people didn't know you can adopt children on your own."

The meme has since garnered over 230,000 likes, with many fans still utterly baffled by the whole situation.
