“This is a devastating time for any parent,” they wrote. "Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along, however, we were overly excited to share the good news.”

They continued: “Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment.”

Now, Sam has since revealed his own feelings towards their loss on his Instagram story.

“It’s hard but we are not alone. Thank you for respecting our privacy. We will be expanding our family soon,” he concluded.

Looking forward to the future, Sam previously commented on one of his other half’s posts: “We will have a miracle soon.”

Baby loss charity Tommy’s explains that as a partner of someone who’s had a miscarriage, ‘it’s important to know that your feelings are valid’.

“No matter the circumstances, you and your partner have both experienced a significant loss,” it explains on its site. 'You may have lots of feelings about what has happened, such as shock, anger, grief, confusion and failure,' and those feelings are all normal.

For support on pregnancy loss, you can call baby loss charity Tommy's on 0800 014 7800 on Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, or email [email protected].
