Meghan Trainor fans divided as she names newborn baby Barry

People are flooding to social media to congratulate Meghan Trainor on the birth of baby Barry Bruce... but also question her name choice

People have been flooding to social media to congratulate Meghan Trainor on the birth of baby Barry Bruce... but also question her name choice.

The 'All About That Bass' singer welcomed her second child with husband Daryl Sabara on the pair's anniversary on 1 July.

Trainor uploaded adorable photographs of herself, her hubby and baby Barry Bruce to her Instagram and received an influx of well-wishes.

Unfortunately there are always some Karens on social media who feel the need to stick their opinions in where they're not needed.

As a Gavin and Stacey and Batman fan, I couldn't be more thrilled with Trainor and Sabara's choice of name for their newest addition to their family - what an amazing collaboration.

Trainor captioned her Instagram post welcoming Barry to the world: "On July 1st (our seven year anniversary of our first date) we welcomed Barry Bruce Trainor into the world.

"He was a big boy at 8lbs 7oz... and sideways (transverse), but we had an amazing, successful c-section, and I finally got my skin to skin time! Thank you to all of the incredible doctors and nurses who took such great care of u."

However, some social media users decided to be negative Nancy's and weigh in with their opinions on the Barry Bruce's name - not that anyone even asked - slinking off to Reddit, not having the guts to say on Trainor's actual social media.

One said: "Is he a 65 years old British man with a beer belly, because if so that's a great name."

"Barry with middle name Bruce - I think this one is a 65-year-old Australian. His nickname is Baz, he owns a cattle station, and claims to have popularised the shoey (drinking beer out of a shoe)," another wrote.

A third commented: "There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just surprisingly dated and unfashionable for a ‘celebrity babyname’.

"Though IMHO much better than a shock-value-random-noun name that sounds juvenile for a future adult.

"Still, my mental image for Barry is a guy in his 60s with a smoker’s cough telling me about his new diabetic foot ulcer."

Apparently the name is worthy of several Reddit threads *eye roll*.

Thankfully, floods of positive comments have far outweighed any nastiness, with most people raining in to congratulate Trainor and her husband on their latest arrival.

One Reddit user countered the thread: "What's wrong with Barry? Unless his middle name is Dexter or something, I see no problems. Perfectly normal, reasonable name, spelled in a sensible manner."

"Welcome Barry Bruce Trainor! We're so happy to meet you <3," an Instagram user said.

A second commented: "Go Mama!! And welcome to the party, Barry!! What a lucky dude!!"

"Oh my gosh Meghan!!!! He's perfect!!!" a third added.

And a final resolved: "Welcome to the world, Barry! You are so loved!"
