Lucy Mecklenburgh has revealed that her newborn baby daughter was rushed to hospital after struggling to breathe.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star shared the frightening news with her fans on social media after spending a few days in the hospital with baby Lilah.

Posting an update to her Instagram Story on Thursday (4 August), Lucy shared a photo of Lilah lying in her cot, attached to a number of tubes after being diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Explaining the situation to her followers, the mum of two explained that Lilah's RSV had caused bronchiolitis, which can be common among children under the age of two.

Lucy wrote: "Lots of messages asking where I've been for five days.

"Unfortunately Lilah got really poorly with Bronchiolitis so we have had a few days in hospital. She is home now and doing well."

The reality star continued: "I'm obviously not in any position to give medical advice but this is our experience for parents that may want to know what happened and what to look out for.

"It started with Roman having a really bad cough I presume he picked up at a pre-school then Lilah caught it.

"Three days in she wasn't coping with it very well, tummy sucking in, cough getting worse, high temperature, coughing and choking on milk and her saliva.

"In hospital she needed some oxygen and was tube fed for a couple of days.

"She had a nose swab that tested positive to RSV which causes Bronchiolitis.

"The swab isn't routine anymore but with Roman's health issues it was important for me to know exactly what she had."

Lucy's eldest child Roman spent a week in intensive care earlier this year, after he was discovered "blue in his cot."

It was found that the youngster was taking fluid into his lungs whenever he had a drink. While little Roman was taken home after one week in hospital, he still has to attend regular check-ups for the condition.

Assuring followers that all was well with Lilah now, she concluded: "She's home and happy now, just a little sleepy and still has a bad cough."

Lucy and her partner Ryan Thomas welcomed baby Lilah Rae Thomas back in May.

She shared the arrival of their daughter with a precious black and white post to Instagram.

The couple are also parents to their two-year-old son Roman, and Ryan shares a daughter, Scarlet, 13, with his ex-partner Tina O'Brien.

Soon after giving birth to baby Lilah, Lucy told fans that the process had been "really positive and calm", though taking care of two youngsters had become somewhat of a 'military operation" with her partner Ryan.

We're wishing Lilah the speediest recovery.
