Love Island’s Maura Higgins ‘shaken up’ after masked men attempt to break into her home

The reality TV star has reportedly upped the security on her home after masked men attempting to break in

Love Island star Maura Higgins is said to be 'shaken up' after masked men reportedly attempted to break into her Essex home.

The 32-year-old rose to fame in the 2019 summer edition of the popular ITV dating show, coming in fourth place with her now ex-boyfriend Curtis Pritchard.

Despite hitting it off on the show, the couple eventually went their separate ways around six months after the final, in early 2020.

She then went on to date another Islander from her series, Chris Taylor, in November 2020.

But the pair decided to call it quits after just a few months of romance.

Maura's season of Love Island also saw the likes of Molly-Mae Hague, Tommy Fury, Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea appear on the show.

Maura, now a model and influencer, has reportedly upped security measures at her home after three masked men attempted to break into her complex and steal a number of vehicles.

As per The Sun, the gang reportedly broke open a large metal gate by shaking and pushing it, with the police subsequently called in the early hours of Wednesday (24 May) morning.

An insider told the publication: "Maura was shaken up.

"Neighbours caught it all on CCTV and it was chilling to see three masked men ram through the gates and start trying to break into cars.

"Maura has lived in her gated community for three years and said she no longer feels safe."

They continued: "There are a number of high- profile names in that complex and living in that area. It is worrying for everyone, including Maura.

"The complex has a real community feel so they are all supporting each other and the CCTV has been shared around.

"Maura is upping security on her car and at her home."

Maura has not yet spoken publicly about the alleged incident.

Last year Maura revealed how she nearly died after having a tampon stuck in her body for three months.

She opened up about her scary experience during an appearance on the ITV2 show Shopping with Keith Lemon, which, as the title implies, saw Lemon hitting the shops with a series of celebrity guests.

During the episode, Maura shared her story as a warning to others as she admitted she had a 'very bad experience' with a tampon which led her to being 'so ill'.

"I was so ill. I did not know what was going on," she recalled.

"There were people that have died from that happening. Young girls might not have noticed, like you go on a night out, what if you got really drunk and forgot, like, these things actually do happen, and people don't speak about it."
