Lil Nas X defended after Met Gala 2023 look is called ‘disgusting’

He certainly had heads turning with his bold look

Lil Nas X has been defended after his Met Gala 2023 look was called ‘disgusting’, with fans coming through with the PERFECT response.

The annual event has become famous for the weird and wonderful interpretations on the theme, which this year have included Doja Cat and Jared Leto rocking up dressed as a literal cats (a nod to Lagerfeld’s pet Choupette), and Dua Lipa wearing couture from Chanel - the fashion house Lagerfeld once served as creative director of.

Tennis champ Serena Williams also stole the show, though not just down to what she was wearing, as she took the opportunity to reveal she was pregnant with her second child.

Lil Nas X, meanwhile, raised eyebrows with a bold red carpet look – not that we’d expect anything less, of course.

The rapper, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, wore nothing but barely-there silver underwear and very high platform heels, having painted himself in silver bodypaint.

His face and upper body were also adorned with crystals and an intricate mask.

Naturally, many loved the daring and glamorous look, with one tweeting: “Can always trust Lil Nas X.”

Someone else said: “Lil Nas X looks amazing.”

A third agreed: "Lil Nas X is amazing at the #MetGala."

But, inevitably, not everyone had kind words to say,

“This is so disgusting,” one person wrote.

But it didn’t take long for the star’s fans to come to his defence, with one hitting back: “I know! It's so disgusting how @LilNasX always looks so amazing.”

Smooth - and obviously too true!

Earlier in the evening, Doja Cat left people speechless when she turned up to her first Met Gala as an actual cat.

Wearing a silver skintight gown by Oscar de la Renta, her outfit also featured a feathered train, backless design and a built-in head covering with cat ears.

She paired this with cat-inspired prosthetics on her face, along with cat-eye make-up and a diamond hanging on her forehead.

Speaking to Vogue on the red carpet, the star said: “I feel relaxed here. Maybe it’s the beige. I feel very calm, it’s very nice."

She added: "Miaow!"

Jared Leto also showed up as a cat, wearing a full fluffy bodysuit on the red carpet before taking the head off for the big reveal.
