Jesy Nelson breaks silence on 'feud' with Little Mix bandmates

Jesy Nelson breaks silence on 'feud' with Little Mix bandmates

The 'Boyz' singer has revealed she hasn't spoken to her former bandmates since she quit Little Mix in December 2020.

Jesy Nelson has shared new details about her alleged ‘feud’ with former her former Little Mix bandmates.

After winning The X Factor in 2011 alongside Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 31, Jade Thirlwall, 30, and Perrie Edwards, 29, the quartet went on to conquer the charts and the hearts of millions.

However after facing years of online trolling and abuse, Jesy, 31, announced she would permanently leave the band after nine years.

At the time she announced her departure, the ‘Boyz’ singer shared that she found the ‘constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard’.

After launching her solo career in 2021, she has now confirmed that she was never ‘prepared’ for the job of being a band and hasn’t spoken to her former bandmates in over two years.

“Being in a girl band, you are a machine going all the time. You don’t have a minute to breathe and take time out if you just need space. That was something I struggled with,” she told The Sun.

“For me my mental health issues were an ongoing thing while I was in Little Mix. I was struggling with my body issues, I was constantly being trolled and I really, really struggled.

“I was in it for nearly 10 years. I think I was never prepared for what was to come. I didn’t have social media or any of that. I was just a barmaid working in Dagenham.

“For me personally, by the end, I couldn't enjoy the good parts and it’s a shame as I had the most amazing times in Little Mix, but I will say this always, your mental health is the most important thing and you only live once so sometimes you have to stop and look after yourself."

Although she insists she had great times in the band and will always ‘cherish the memories’ she had to put her mental wellbeing first.

Despite losing contact with the three remaining band members, who are all preparing to launch their own solo careers, she wishes them the best.

She said: “We haven’t talked since then. Never say never, but I honestly wish them the best on their solo journeys now, which is so exciting.

"I am rooting for all of them. I honestly do wish them all the success as they are all crazy talented.”

Leigh-Anne, Jade and Perrie decided to put their Little Mix endeavours on hold indefinitely last year following the conclusion of their Confetti Tour in May 2022.
