Jessie J has called out some of those commenting on her recent baby news, reminding people that ‘pregnancy is not a competition’.

The 34-year-old announced she was expecting on Friday (6 January), with a sweet video documenting her pregnancy up to now. You can see the announcement here:

However, she’s since returned to Instagram to discuss the comments she’s received since saying she’s found them ‘interesting’ before urging people not to try and others ‘how they feel’.

In a lengthy post, Jessie wrote: “The comments on videos about my pregnancy is a whole new experience… It’s very interesting observing how women are with each other.

“Telling someone how they feel or what not to feel is just not the way to do it.

“I’m not even talking about some of you commenting to me, I’m also talking about how you comment to and on each other. Every body is different. Literally. And every story and journey is different.

“Pregnancy is not a competition. Pregnancy is not who is doing it better or right because not one way works for everyone.”

Jessie went on to say that she’s not yet in a position to talk about pregnancy as a whole but stressed how grateful she was.

“I can only speak on the first trimester fully,” she wrote. “And I believe however s**t or amazing or awful or scary or joyful it is. Gratitude is always there as a given.

“But we are allowed to feel. We are allowed to do it however WE want. We got this.”

Sharing her good news on Friday, Jessie asked fans to ‘please be gentle with me’.

"I am so happy and terrified to finally share this," she wrote.

Jessie J hasn't told fans how far along she is yet.

"Honestly, ya girl just wants to ugly cry in public in a catsuit eating a chocolate covered pickle with no questions asked."

Jessie was quickly flooded with messages of support and congratulations from fans, friends, and a plenty of famous faces.

Kelly Rowland commented: "AHHHHHHHHH SCREAMING CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU!!"

Ellie Goulding penned: "You look completely radiant and full of joy. Many Congratulations my love."

Stacey Solomon, who is also currently pregnant, wrote: “Oh Jessie I’m so happy for you. Love you.”

And all the sweet posts proved to be a bit too much for an emotional Jessie, who later took to Instagram to share: "The love, the love, the love,. I am ugly crying fr. Thank you to everyone who is blowing my phone up. Woof, what a ride."
