Heartbreaking reason why Bobby Brazier 'doesn't miss' late mum Jade Goody

There’s a heartbreaking reason why Bobby Brazier ‘doesn’t miss’ his late mum, Big Brother star Jade Goody, having spoken candidly about how he remembers her all this time after her death.

Jade rose to fame when she appeared on the third series of the Channel 4 reality show, also going on to star on season five of the celebrity spin-off in 2007.

In 2008, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, which later was confirmed to have spread to other areas of her body, including her liver, bowel and groin.

Jade passed away in March the following year at the age of just 27, leaving behind her two kids with ex-partner Jeff Brazier, sons Bobby and Freddie.

Bobby, now 19, had only been five when his mother died, meaning that – while Jade was one of the most well-known names in the UK at the height of her fame – his own memories of her aren’t quite so clear.

In a new interview with The Times, he was asked if he remembered much about his mum.

“Not a whole lot,” the teenager replied.

“Maybe memories of memories. I’m always being told about her and what she meant to people. I guess I know my mum through other people’s memories of my mum.”

Bobby is now 19.

Bobby agreed that Goody had an ‘excellent personality’, adding: “Thanks, Mum, for giving me your amazing personality and your beautiful face.”

Speaking about Jade’s time in the limelight after her Big Brother success, Bobby continued: "I've never really thought about her experience of fame. I think to assume that anybody's experience of fame is glamorous, or that it will make you whole or happy, is silly.

"It might make some things better, but because of that it'll make other things worse.”

In a previous interview with The Face, Bobby also admitted he doesn’t even miss Jade – for a heartbreaking reason.

When asked if he missed her, he said: “I don’t. Because I don’t feel like I was with her long enough to miss her.”

He went on: “I feel like it’s unfair. I miss what could’ve been. I hear all the time she was such a presence, that she was one of a kind. What hurts most is that it wasn’t just losing anyone, it was losing Jade.”

Bobby said he would have just ‘loved to have seen what other people had seen’.

“I’m always being told that she’s a hero and that she was funny and that people see me in her on a daily basis, which is nice,” he said.

“I’m lucky that [her life was] kind of public, because it means that I can watch videos when I’m feeling strong enough to watch videos. But sometimes I can’t. I will cry if I do.”
