A fan has been arrested after throwing a phone at Bebe Rexha's face which left her needing stitches.

The singer was performing at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City when a phone flew from the crowd and hit her in the face.

Videos of the incident show the 33-year-old rocking a sparkling outfit and walking towards the front of the stage when the device strikes her face.

Rexha then fell onto her knees in pain and kept her face down while her adoring fans couldn’t believe what they’d seen.

A spokesperson for the New York City Police Department has now confirmed the arrest of a 27-year-old, with the man having been charged with assault.

The statement from the NYPD spokesperson said: "On Sunday, June 18, 2023 at approximately 2200 hours, police were notified of an assault that occurred at the concert space of Pier 17 located at 89 South Street, within the confines of the 1st Precinct.

"A preliminary investigation on scene determined that a 27-year-old male intentionally threw a cell phone at a 33-year-old female performer on stage, striking her about the face."

They continued: "The individual was taken into custody on scene and removed to the 1st Precinct for arrest processing. The aided female was removed by EMS to an area hospital in stable condition.

"Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the following individual has been arrested and charged on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at 2254 hours within the confines of the 1 Precinct.”

Rexha later shared a picture of herself with a blackened eye and what appears to be stitches on her eyebrow, writing in the caption: “I’m good.”

According to reports, the singer had to get three stitches.

In the video, you can see her loyal fans alerting security to the man who allegedly threw the device at the singer’s face.

The crew helped her on the stage while the suspect was removed from the crowd and over the venue barrier.

Commenting on her Instagram, one fan wrote: ”That video got me mad as hell.. glad you’re ok!”

Another put: “We love you. People don’t know how to f***ing act.”

A third said: “You don’t deserve it.”

And many others point out just how good Rexha still looks despite the injury, commenting: “Still sexy af.”

Even Chrishell Stause from Selling Sunset had her say: “I hope they caught the person – this is awful. So sorry that happened.”
